“A Day Without Women” in the Workforce – Something to Celebrate!

Women today have become so foolish. They falsely believe that they have more value outside of the home rather than inside of it. They also falsely believe that feminism is what has brought women value; the right to vote, have careers, and be “equal” with men in every way. No, they weren’t being satisfied being women. They wanted to be men.

Feminism is NOT what has brought women value. It degrades women, overworks them, and leaves them more dissatisfied than ever before (the Women’s March proved this). “The elevation of women was in the early period of Christianity understood to be one of the glories of Christianity, yet like a century plant, the seeds of social change planted by the gospel were to take many generations to bear fruit. Nonetheless, within forty years after this writing these aims were beginning to be accomplished, as we see from Clement or Rome’s Epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 1: ‘Nobody could spend even a short while among you without noticing the excellence and constancy of your faith,’ especially among ‘your women-folk,’ who were becoming ‘patterns of discretion in every way.'” (Thomas Oden)

Women today are anything but discreet. Some definitions of being discreet: “careful not to cause embarrassment or attract a lot of attention.” A godly mother who is at home raising her children is discreet and she is doing a powerful work for the Lord. No, she doesn’t get a lot of attention or praise or earn an income, but if she is godly, kind, modest, and hard-working in her home, her husband and children will rise up and call her blessed! Her price is FAR above rubies.

“Work on human hearts and destinies to do imperishable work, to build within life’s fleeting hours monuments that shall last forever.” (S.C. Ferguson) Mothers are doing imperishable work when they invest their lives into their children full time. These little eternal souls live forever and life is fleeting. There is no better way to invest their time than doing this. No one can have a greater impact for good upon a child than their parents.

Another definition of being discreet: “careful and circumspect in one’s speech or actions.” Many women today are the opposite of this. You are called to “keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12). You are commanded to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. Are you living this way? Are you obeying the Lord in what He has called you to do or have you been swept up with the feminist’s movement and the destruction of womanhood?

“We’ve seen what the world’s curriculum does in the lives of women and how it leaves them disordered and dysfunctional and distressed and in depression. I think it’s time we try God’s way. We see what can happen when we begin to educate and train women in the ways of God” (Nancy Wolgemuth).

Christianity, namely Christ, is what gives women value, not feminism, voting, careers, or making money. The best thing women could do today is quit their jobs and go home to take care of their husbands, children, and home. This is where they are most needed and most profitable. Don’t believe the lie that only rich women can stay home full time. Live simply and frugally within your husband’s income if need be and seek the Lord in wisdom. He is our provider and His commands are not burdensome.

“Love your husband, love your children. Stay home. That’s not an idea I came up with out of my head. That’s from Titus 2. Older women are to teach, encourage, do all that they possibly can to help the younger women to do these things. My objective is to simply point you back to the Word of God.”

Let me end this post with a poem that was written by a retired minister from Tennessee.

I like the “Old Paths”, when Moms were at home.
Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay; Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook; Dads would work; Children would behave..
Husbands were loving; Wives were supportive; And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry; And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies; Men looked like gentlemen; And children looked decent.

People loved the truth, And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked; Drinking was evil; and divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored; America was beautiful; And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school; And preached from house to house

To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

Sex was a personal word. Homosexual was an unheard of word, And abortion was an illegal word.

Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart; And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life; Following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.

Preachers were more interested in new converts, Than new clothes and new cars.

God was worshiped; Christ was exalted; and the Holy Spirit was respected.

Church was where you found Christians on the Lord’s day, rather than in the garden, on the creek bank, on the golf course, or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the Old Paths the best!

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths,
where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Jeremiah 6:16

  1. I love that this was in my FB this morning:

  2. Yet another excellent post, Lori.

    I once heard a sermon in which the minister said that women in the labor force has done nothing but cause extra expense and problems. For example, he mentioned maternity and family leave, baby changing stations, on-site day care centers, etc. Not every employer offers these, but there is pressure to do so since so many women work for an employer. Also, adultery and fornication occur when women and men work together. Some people divorce to marry someone else they met on the job. Then there’s the sexual tension that exists, even if never acted upon. I think we underestimate how many issues are caused by women being employed. The narrow way and the old paths are indeed the safest and the best for women. God’s will for women demonstrates His love for us and His desire to prevent us from reaping the evil fruit of sin.

  3. This event is not about encouraging women to stay home in the way you describe. They will not be home to care for their home or children. These are women from the vulgar women’s march a couple months ago wearing the “vajay jay” hats. Even though I work outside the home, I’m not a feminist. Those women don’t speak for me, so I’ll be going to work today. I will not support them.

  4. All of those things you mentioned are true, Lady Virtue, when women decided to leave their homes and act like men chaos prevailed. It’s very sad, especially for the children who have suffered so much without their mothers at home raising them.

  5. I know but I turned it into this since it is called “A Day Without Women” and it is mostly about women leaving their places of work outside of their homes. I use any opportunity I can to steer women back to the truth of God’s Word!

  6. I feel like this ‘Day Without A Woman’ only proves stereotypes- pout and protest until you get what you want. Women are encouraged not to go to work today as a form of protest. It’s like giving your spouse the silent treatment or withholding sex until he apologizes/gives in/agrees with you.

    If you want to fight for something then go ahead- but use words. EXPLAIN to me why you feel the way you do. Sitting home and pouting like a child until you get your way will NEVER make me take you seriously.

  7. I found it so ironic that the feminists chose to stay home. I mean, isn’t home where they have been trying to get away from? What if the men in their workplaces actually enjoy the workday better without them? They are so blinded by their own importance.

  8. I will be taking time today to be extra affectionate to my husband who works so hard to provide so I can be home. I will take time today to teach my kids the joy I have in keeping my home nice, and the blessings in my life as I get to spend time with them. The truth is most men will probably have a nicer, quieter workday.

  9. They’ve used many words; words like “oppression” and such, which are all lies. American women have all the freedoms that they want. The bottom line is discontentment and selfishness.

    They will never be content because they are looking for freedom in the wrong places. True freedom is only found in Christ and in His perfect will for us.

  10. I do too and America was much more this way when my mom was a child. She loved it! Of course, it wasn’t perfect since no time on earth was perfect but people respected God and His name and clearly knew right from wrong since this nation was founded upon Judeo-Christian values.

  11. They sure are, Michelle, and all of their temper tantrums aren’t helping their cause at all. It is simply making them look childish and foolish.

  13. I think there are a few different reasons for this. I suppose the biggest and main one from which everything else stems is that the church followed the world – you can see this in the movie, Sheffy, by Bob Jones Univ. They were not faithful to adhere to the Word of God. They became humanists – you can listen to Ten Shekels and a Shirt. They failed to have a true and living relationship with Jesus Christ. They just became religious. Because of this, women failed to have that relationship and failed to know that they do what ever they do for the sake of Christ – for His love and pleasure. They gave their children up to the world; rather than keeping them at home, loving them and teaching them to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. Then, I think men failed to build their wives up and let them know that they were appreciated and didn’t care about showing the love Christ to them and having a relationship with them. And so, we find ourselves in modern days, far removed from Scripture. Very few, even in the church, have any sort of Biblical viewpoint at all. As far as I can tell, the church is the world in many, many ways.

  14. I agree with you. God has some stern words for the lukewarm Church, Carolyn. “‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” (Rev. 3:16) Let this never be said about us.

  15. I totally agree! As I am living in the Netherlands, feminism is all around me. People look at me funny for dressing modest and wanting to be home for my children. Unfortunately homeschooling isn’t common here and our government isn’t supporting of this.

    But I will stand firmly in my home as a loving wife, mother and homemaker and I will pursue Gods purpose for me as a woman. Thank you for writing this, we all need a little encouragement from time to time.

  16. I have a quick question for the author is this interesting article and just anyone here commenting: should women vote? yes or no? Is it appropriate to vote when your husband is your head and is it dangerous because women are easily deceived?
    Also, should a young unmarried women vote because she is under her father’s house and authority?
    Thanks

  17. There’s is nothing wrong or evil with women voting. The problem I have with it is in the manner it came to be. Women didn’t respect men’s vote and their leadership and felt they knew better than men so they fought to be able to vote. A godly woman should vote as her husband votes since he is the head over her and the leader of her family so by voting the way he does, she is supporting him and following his lead.

  18. Wow, thank you for responding so quickly!
    I agree with the concept of headship and leading, but if a women votes the way her husband votes (regardless of what her views are) isn’t that like giving her husband two votes? Our country and government were set up to allow one person one vote.
    And should an unmarried women vote the way her father votes?

  19. Her vote is bolstering her husband’s vote and they are two separate people but she is following her husband’s lead. Unmarried women can vote however they want since they are not under a husband’s authority.

  20. Hi Lori! I would prefer that my OB-GYNE be a woman because of modesty. Thank you for women doctors.
