Enduring Character Assassination and Slander

Enduring Character Assassination and Slander

It’s not easy for me to comment on a popular Facebook person’s page or blog without those who hate what I teach finding my comments and taking the opportunity to slander me and say all types of vile things about me. This happened last week but one woman took the trolls to task and wrote this:

“Okay, first off, I had to go see for myself what y’all were accusing this woman, Lori Alexander, of and if it were true. So I checked out her page The Transformed Wife, and there were  ZERO posts from this woman saying the trashy things ya’ll are accusing her about! There were people mocking her for her biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality in marriage, but NONE of this mess y’all are saying she said, or says!

“Shameful, that y’all would stoop so low as to character assassinate and slander this woman simply because you disagree with her! Dear God, I hope and pray none of you are claiming to be Christians, cause if you are, you’re a liar and clearly doing the work of your father…satan! I’m reporting each of you for bullying and harassing this woman! Lori Alexander, I am so sorry that human beings have become such evil and twisted vipers! Know God knows who these women are, and He will serve them justice for their actions here today! ??? “

She probably doesn’t know that I receive these types of slanderous comments on a daily basis but I thanked her for her boldness. People have privately written to me and asked me if I could get rid of the trolls on my Facebook page since they are trying to sabotage what I teach. I would if I could but they just keep coming and remember, what they intend for evil, God will use for good! Here’s a verse that brings me a lot of comfort, however. (Actually, there are many verses in the Word of God that bring me comfort.)

“And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that of God” (Philippians 1:28). We aren’t supposed to be terrified by our adversaries! We are not to fear them. We are to fear God instead! When we are not terrified by them, it’s an “evident token of destruction” for them. We must stand strong in the Lord and in His mighty power as the world grows darker since greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

Here is what Gills’ Exposition of the Bible had to say about this verse:

“And in nothing terrified by your adversaries,…. Not by Satan, though a roaring lion, for Christ is greater than he; nor by the world which Christ has overcome; nor by false teachers, though men of art and cunning; nor by violent persecutors, who can do no more than kill, the body; let not the power, the rage, the cunning, or the violence of one or the other, move, discourage, or affright from a close attachment to the Gospel and the truths of it:

“Which is to them an evident token of perdition; when men willfully oppose themselves to the truth, and show a malicious hatred to it, and hold it in unrighteousness, and either turn the grace of God into lasciviousness, or persecute it with rage and fury, it looks as if they were given up to reprobate minds, to say and do things not convenient; as if they were foreordained to condemnation; and were consigned over to destruction and perdition; and very rare it is, that such persons are ever called by grace:

“But to you of salvation; when men are reproached and ridiculed, are threatened and persecuted for the sake of the Gospel, and are enabled to take all patiently, and persevere in the truth with constancy, it is a manifest token that such are counted worthy of the kingdom of God; that God has a design of salvation for them, and that they shall be saved with an everlasting one: so that the different effects of the opposition of the one, and the constancy of the other, are made use of as so many reasons why the saints should not be terrified by their enemies: it is added

“And that of God; meaning either that the whole of this is of God, as that there are adversaries, heretics, and persecutors; this is by divine permission, and in order to answer some ends and purpose of God, and the perdition or everlasting punishment of such persons will be righteously inflicted upon them by him; and that the constancy, faith, patience, and perseverance of the saints and their salvation, are all of God: or it particularly respects the latter, the salvation of those who persevere to the end; this is not of themselves, or merited by their constancy, patience, and perseverance, but is God’s free gift.”

We have nothing to fear, women! We can rejoice at the times to come. God’s Spirit works mightily within us. He has made us new creatures in Christ and promises us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. So don’t lose hope. Don’t live in fear. God is good and His plan for you is good. We must remember that this is not our home. We are strangers and aliens just passing through. The worst that can happen to us is that we die and are alive with Christ for eternity on the brand new earth! We always have hope.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
Psalm 46:1-3

  1. My advice is to stay strong and stick to your convictions. Just because something is popular or a fad to believe such as anything goes, or any family is a real family, or women should be more like men, doesn’t mean it’s right! Values must transcend fads… They assassinate your character to try and bully you into silence. Don’t let them win!

  2. Hi Transformed wife

Character assassinations and counter arguments are great because they become valuable teaching tools.

I just watched a YouTube video titled the transformed wife vs women with jobs and what she said in this video taught my children the basic underlying assumption that exposes her worldview. It took your website got the counterarguments going! Thank you!

The entire premise of this young ladies argument rests on autonomy. She wants to self determine and transcend what is predetermined by God. If what is predetermined is not important then a meaningful life hinges on what can be self determined like career and consumerist pursuits like entertainment, hobbies so on and so forth.

  3. Yes, Naama! I love that what they intend for evil, God can use for good. The wise among us will always be able to easily discern false teachings and false teacher, because they don’t line up with the Word of God.

  4. Thank you, A Lady of Reason. Yes, their goal is to shut up all those who they disagree with especially those who teach the truths found in God’s Word.

  5. ‘Blessed are ye, when men shall rebuke you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you, falsely, die my sake.’
    Jesus Matthew 5:11

Satan and the left reserve their fiercest vitriol for women, as they hope to overwhelm her, and to destroy the society.

Praying for your strength Lori, If God be for us, who can be against us?

Greater is he that is with us, than he that is with them.

It is time for the men to get up in public, and throw the gauntlet down to the left. Having done it, you discover they are cowards. They attack in packs, and anonymously. Like jackals and hyenas, they frighten easily, and are terrified of those who tell the truth, the lions,

‘The righteous are bold as a lion, but the wicked flee when no man pursues’
    Proverbs 28:1.

  6. I’ve come to expect this of secularists, but from women proclaiming to be Christian, it’s just sad. Even with sects I don’t particularly agree with, I’ve never even thought to attack with nastiness. While I have very strong opinions on certain things involving women, I always try to use a gentle mouth when voicing them.

I’m sorry you deal with this regularly, but I thank your for continuing on. It’s important stuff that needs to be said…and heard.

  7. You are amazing. Most people, myself included, don’t have the guts to take the level of rage that is directed against you for the truths that you tell. I applaud you tremendously for your amazing courage!!

  8. Dear Lori, this is exactly why after many years of reading and benefiting from your writing but never commenting, I purposed to become an active participant on your blog, commenting as often as I can manage. I also purposed to pray for you because there are many who would that you be silenced. I’m sure you are in the majority because God is with you. Your blog is a great encouragement to me as a young wife and mother. I’ve pointed a number of “reclaimed wives” (repentant ex feminists who have quit the corporate world to heed the Lord’s command to be keepers at home – yes our numbers are swelling) to this blog and to aboverubies.org and generationcedar.com. Keep up the excellent work and pay no heed to naysayers. God bless your work, you will only truly ever know the full headcount of women that were blessed by your efforts when the roll is called up yonder.

  9. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! This is all that matters in the end, isn’t it. Believing in the Lord, obeying Him, and spending eternity with Him. This is a life well lived and brings glory to God.

  10. Thank you, Diana. I was talking with my book publisher recently and whenever I see him, he asks me, “What type of hot water are you in now?!?!” 🙂 He knows that I am not afraid to teach the hard truths of God’s Word and nothing is off limits. Then he responded to me, “You have nothing to lose.” I agreed. At 60 years old and being blessed by God abundantly, I have nothing to lose but only to gain by other women knowing and obeying the precious Word of the Lord.

  11. Thank you so much, Debby. I think all of the years of suffering from so much physical pain prepared me for the nastiness I receive on a daily basis. Suffering strengthens us. I know Whom I serve and I only aim to please Him. He has commanded that I teach biblical womanhood so I do. He never said that His commands are easy but they are good. I love the ministry the Lord has blessed me with!

  12. I had watched a YouTube video of yours and left a comment agreeing with the video. Oh my! What nasty, vile things were said about you and me under my comment.I could not believe it. I have read your blog since I was freshly married. Know that you have helped myself and many other young women today.

  13. Thanks for your ministry! Just looking at some of the comments about you online give me anxiety and stress. ?

  14. Thank you, Chelsea. A few sites who acknowledge that they are atheists are swarming that video so I had to turn off the commenting. They twist what I said to make it into something ugly and vile. This is the way of those in the world. God promises us that we will have tribulation in this world but to take heart because He has overcome the world!

  15. Have you considered letting a few of your trusted readers help you moderating your facebook page comments? No reason why you have to do it all.

  16. Lori, it was my honor to step up and speak truth in your defense. I have a very deep-seated distain for lying, bullying, harassment, and abuse of anyone speaking the truth of God’s word, or truth against the lies of the enemy period. Your courage and standing on God’s words of hope, faith, and truth are inspiring to me and many others. Thank you for not backing down, and standing on your faith in our Mighty and Righteous Father.

As for my knowledge to your daily barrage of haters, I recognized it the minute I went to your Facebook page and your blog to research their accusations against you. Jesus said that if they hated Him, they would hate us as well. So it’s truly no surprise to me, honestly, as I’ve experienced it myself.

In addition, I found it truly unnatural the amount of vitriol from so many, against one woman (that cued my skepticism that these women were being honest). And that was why I researched your FB page and blog. Because I had a pretty good idea that these women were rabid feminists, and were taking your comments out of context — and I was absolutely correct. And even though they have taken to using their own blog posts to lambaste me and you, I trust we both can stand on our faith in a righteous God, to be our defense attorney against their character assassination.

God bless you, my dear. You’ve gained a new follower and subscriber in me. ?❤?❤

  17. Thank you so much, Jean-Marie! I so appreciate that you came to my blog and Facebook page to see for yourself what I teach instead of simply believing them. I always do this when someone is being criticized and attacked. I want to read their own words for myself before making a judgment. There are way too many who want to destroy the good name of others especially if they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are promised this in His Word. May God bless you, too!

  18. I know many young (18-22) women who were raised in a Feminist households who are yearning for husband and family. Their natural instincts are rebelling against the feminist dogma being shoved down their throats. Even non-christian girls. They are eager for words from mature women like you Lori — they will gather around your rocking chair and listen if you speak gently the magnificent truth. Please don’t back down.

  19. Thank you, Jim. I speak the truth to any women who will listen and they eagerly listen if they have soft hearts but don’t if they do not.

  20. Hi Lori, When I found your blog a few months ago I felt so supported and it helps me reinforce the way my family has approached biblical womanhood my entire life. To find others that truly follow God’s will is very comforting. I get confronted all the time by other women that ask :”So you’re 42 and never had a job…..your kids are grow now, what do you do all day?” Folks also think I’m out of touch with the world because I truly love submitting to and obeying my husband, and our Lord. I am blessed to be very protected and sheltered by my husband and my parents, but your posts always encourage me that we as a family are doing the right things. I pray for you to continue your ministry with strength and faith. Prayers for you always!

  21. Dear Lori,

It was through one of these negative comments that I came across your wonderful blog. I praise and glorify God for leading me to your blog. It has truly saved my life. I have discovered so many priceless treasures that has changed my life through your blog. I am sure your impact on me would bless my future husband, children, grandchildren, future generations and change the storyline of our future. You have been such a wonderful blessing to my life, Lori. I am eternally grateful to God for you!

I was born to amazing parents whom I love dearly. My late father was a wonderful man. However, my mother was battling with mental illness. She never cleaned the house nor cooked. She constantly blamed my father, disrespected him and hurt him verbally. My father ended up cheating on my mother and it brought such great chaos to my family; financially, emotionally, physically. Initially I was angry at my father, but after reading your blog I have came to understand that men need respect and admiration. It really was not my father’s fault to want to come home to a smiling face and a clean home. He probably wanted distraction from the disorder and chaos that was present at home. I still love my mother with all my heart and I pray to God to make all wives lovely and delightful to their husbands.

I was educated by feminists and thought that working was the only purpose in life. It was through reading your blog that I have discovered my TRUE purpose. I felt SO much peace and happiness within my heart when I read your blog. I felt as if I was a fish just released in the water. It is important for me to honour my future husband, admire him, reverence him. It is important for me to teach my future children the word of God.

I am currently preparing to become a wife and help meet to my future husband. I made a pact to myself that I would learn as much as I could on how to become an excellent wife, mother, homemaker and cook. As per your recommendations, I have finished reading Created to Be A Help Meet, Preparing to Be A Help Meet, Hidden Help Meet and some wonderful Anne Ortlund books. They have completely changed my life as well. I am currently completing the True Woman 101 & 201 by Nancy Wolgemuth.

Dear Lori, I would be so glad if you would give me some book recommendations that would teach me about Biblical womanhood, being a woman of virtue, homemaking and cooking as I really need to be discipled. I was never taught these things when I was younger. It would truly mean the world to me 🙂 Thank you again, Lori for your teachings! I pray that God blesses your family with an abundance of blessings and the greatest of protection!

    Rose

  22. Thank you, Rose, and yes, what they intend for evil, God uses for good! On the Other Side of the Garden is excellent, too. Have you read my book? You will be a wonderful wife and mother to a man some day! May God bless you!

  23. You will be a blessing to a husband and children in your future, Rose!
The Bible is the most important book you can spend time reading. I think many women make the mistake (myself included) of reading blogs, specific authors, and listening to podcasts more than/before reading God’s word. Only God and the work of the Holy Spirit can change hearts through the transformational power of the Gospel, so while the training you’re completing as hopefully a future wife and mother are admirable, we should all be striving to meditate on God’s Word and grow in our knowledge of Him right where He has us now. That being said, Make Womanhood Biblical Again is an excellent blog that I found through this one. Her “voice” is similar to Nancy Wolgemuth’s in that both women share, through their writing/speaking that they’re in it with us, battling a sin nature, as all authentic Christians are-striving to be Christ-like, but they accomplish their instruction and spiritual challenges to their readers with a gentle spirit.
