Flat Out Lie!

Flat Out Lie!

This meme was posted on Facebook and it’s a flat out lie yet many women believe it to be so! They wouldn’t be listening to all of the female preachers if they believed it to be a lie. Every single female preacher that I have heard try to justify why she can preach and teach the Word of God uses this excuse, “It was women who went and preached to the disciples that Jesus had risen from the dead!” The Church had not even been established at this point and Paul had not written the instructions to the Church yet, so there were no elders/pastors at this time in history and relaying information isn’t preaching.

The wise women in the chat room had their opinions about this meme, too. They accept the Word of God as perfect and don’t try to twist and water it down in any way.

Sarah: “Just because I share my testimony with a friend doesn’t mean I’m a preacher. Mary was just telling her friends what happened. If something that wild happened to me I’d definitely tell my friends, too. And regardless, we would still have knowledge of the resurrection because God wanted us to know. Jesus still appeared to many people after all this. She could have said nothing and they still would have known.”

Guisel: “My response or lack thereof depends. If it’s a man, I keep scrolling because I can’t be a hypocrite and teach him that he is incorrect. If it is a women, I’ll generally say, ‘That’s inconsistent with scripture’ and insert the scripture(s) that disprove whatever absurdity is being pushed.

“Sadly, many ‘mature’ Christians are falling for the many traps that Satan is laying. It’s why it is critical to put on the armor of God every single day and not let our guards down so we are not deceived. The never ending deluge of false theology shared on social media is one of the many reasons why I wanted to quit. We’re being fed this rotten fruit so much that we start to confuse it with truth.”

Michaela: “People would have most certainly known. His ascension is 40 days after His resurrection. Lots of people saw Him. Mary just happened to be the first. It doesn’t make her a preacher.”

Lindsay: “Women, like all believers, are to speak truth and tell others the message of the gospel. But they are not to hold church authority over men by preaching or teaching in the church gathering or holding any position of church authority over men. Why is this distinction so difficult for people to grasp? I think it’s because they don’t want to make the distinction so that they can dismiss what the word of God says.”

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1 Corinthians 14:34, 35

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Timothy 2:11-14

  1. Yuck! The very first woman preacher I had ever heard was way back in the ” dark ages” of the 1980s. This woman was a guest” preacher” named Iona Locke who preached at the black church my mother and I were going to. Honestly ladies it was just weird to me but my mother loved it . I was new in the faith and had no knowledge that women were not supposed be preaching in the church. Maybe because even though I was a new Christian, the Holy Spirit was telling me this was just plain wrong.

Women preachers have this attitude that God has gifted them to preach in the Church and have decided to pick and choose which scripture to obey. I hate that feminist lies have entered the church and poisoned the minds of women ( and men!)

  2. Ridiculous. That would mean we were all preachers by the age of 3 or so when we passed on our first observation….”Daddy tooted, hee hee.” I don’t think so!

  3. I actually heard an account on Christian radio over Easter, and I apologize, I have absolutely no references- I don’t even know what station I was listening to.

I hope someone else knows more about this.

The commentator said Mary being the first recorded to see Jesus after the resurrection had nothing to do with women being allowed to be preachers. It was actually one of the things God had planned to give the account of the resurrection credibility.

The commentator on the radio said in that time period and place, women’s testimony had NO credibility. They were not considered credible witnesses. Had the disciples been trying to ‘fake’ the resurrection by stealing the body and spreading false testimonies, they would NOT have claimed the first witness to be a woman. If they were trying to fake the resurrection, the first witnesses would have been men.

    I thought that was interesting!

  4. That’s a nice thought, Paula, but Scripture doesn’t tell us why the reason was that Mary was told first. Maybe because she was His mother.

“Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene” (John 19:26).

  5. It is abundantly clear that it is for men to Preach and for women to lead through the example of personal piety and a Godly life in the home.

For a woman to Preach outside the home and to men is quite simply sinful.

  6. So which denominations are recommended? In the Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran and Episcopal churches there are women preachers and women lay preachers. I have always considered them to be just as Christian as all the other denominations. All the denominations have different doctrines. I would like to find a church to go to since I was raised in the church. Which denominations should I look into and which ones should I avoid if I want my walk with God to be true?

  7. I am blessed to have found a New Testament Fellowship. They are patterned after the New Testament. There are no pastors. The male members preach and teach. The women keep silent. They also cover during worship. They asked the men if they could do that.

How do I feel when I attend that church? I feel peace. I do not have to be responsible to preach and teach. I enjoy having men do this. The men are very careful to keep watch over all classes the men teach and the ones the women teach. They even look over the kitchen functioning. They are not egotistical in their duties. They find it a heavy duty job. There have been no divorces in over 40 years or more. The women are happy. There is peace there. I am sure they have problems but they are handled with the Biblical teachings. I am blessed.

  8. Didn’t a woman named Phoebe deliver and read Paul’s letters to the Roman church?

  9. No. “I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: So you should welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints and assist her in whatever matter she may require your help. For indeed she has been a benefactor of many–and of me also.” (Rom. 16:1, 2) She was a servant in the church and helped people. That’s it.

  10. Both Mark 16:9 and John 20:14 say it was Mary Magdalene and not Mary of Nazareth or Mary mother of Jesus who saw Jesus at the tomb and then was commanded by Jesus to go and tell his disciples.
    John 20:
17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

  11. Thank you for the correction. I was thinking about the women at the foot of the cross, not the first one to see the empty tomb but it sure didn’t make Mary Magdalene a preacher!
