Marching for Social Justice Isn’t What God Asks of Us

Marching for Social Justice Isn’t What God Asks of Us

There’s going to be a Women’s March in Los Angeles in January so I looked it up to see what they are marching for. Here is what it stated: “At Women’s March LA Foundation, we recognize that there is no true peace, freedom, or inclusion without equity for all. Our event on January 20th will feature music, art, community booths, and speakers in a shared voice of resistance with advocacy aligned with the national Women’s March Unity Principles: ending violence, protection of reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights, workers’ rights, civil rights, disability rights, immigrant rights, Indigenous people’s rights and environmental justice.”

I guess these women never had a dad like Ken who gave them a long lecture on life NOT being fair when they were young so we never heard our children say, “That isn’t fair!” They grew up knowing that life wasn’t fair but they know God is a just God and will have the final say.

This is what Voddie Baucham wrote about social justice: “If the social justice movement went by its actual name, young Christians would not have been lured into it. Because the social justice movement is actually Cultural Marxism. There’s no such thing as ‘social justice,’ people. In fact, in the Bible, justice never has an adjective. There’s justice and there’s injustice, but there’s not different kinds of justice.”

As godly women, we aren’t called to march for our rights or for social justice since it’s a made up word by those who hate God. God never told us to go out and change culture. He told us to go out and share the Good News and speak the truth in love while individually helping those in need. People need Jesus. They don’t need more “rights.” They need the hope only Christ provides.

Most feminists are never satisfied and will never be happy. They continue to expect more instead of being thankful for what they have. Remember, being unthankful is one of the first steps towards being turned over to a reprobate mind according to Romans 1. These women marching falsely believe that there is “no true peace, freedom, or inclusion without equity for all.” No, there is no true peace, freedom, or inclusion without equity for all without Jesus Christ. They are marching for the wrong thing.

As women, He calls us to have the opposite of marching for what we want; He has called us to have meek and quiet spirits and to quietly work hard with our hands at home as keepers at home. “And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you” (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Did you notice that we must study to be quiet? It doesn’t come naturally. We are to do our own business at home and not involve ourselves with other’s business. This is the life the Lord has ordained for us, women, and it is good. This brings Him glory!

I love how often in God’s Word that He instructs us about being quiet. “In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15) not in fighting for what we want. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee” (Isaiah 26:3). These women who march will find no peace even if they get the rights they are marching for. Perfect peace only comes from the Lord and keeping our minds stayed upon Him.

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness…And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation and in sure dwellings and in quiet resting places” (Isaiah 32:17, 18). Expectations, wants, and rights don’t accomplish what is best. Peace and quietness is what is best and it only comes from being clothed in Christ’s righteousness and doing what He has called us to do. Godliness with contentment is great gain. These women marchers are not content and never will be because they are trying to find satisfaction and “fairness” on this earth. It won’t happen. It’s only found in Christ. “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25)

Being on our knees and praying to the King of Kings while being salt and light in a dark culture will accomplish much more than any march because eternity is what matters. This life is a blip on the whole of eternity so let’s be women who use our time wisely and obey what the Lord has called us to do.

That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1 Timothy 2:2

  1. Absolutely! The swirling vitriol, cursing and unrest these marches produce is not of God. Satan tempts Christians through emotions as he knows unguarded flesh can be weak and impressionable. Instead, I think Christian ladies should have our own “march” in our own homes that day, caring for loved ones, investing in relationships and home, while spreading Christ’s love and peace in our homes and the world. What we have been Biblically directed to do every day!

  2. I get what you are saying as far as feminism and the women’s March. However, there are things we should stand against in our society if people hadn’t, our country would still be segregated with “colored” and “white” drinking fountains and restrooms. We should stand and march for the unborn and stand against sex trafficking. We need women like The Activist Mommy who speaks up for the unborn and against all the gender insanuty and LGBT agenda.

  3. On I can’t stand those women’s marches! They may be women but they certainly aren’t ladies. It’s true they will never be satisfied. Those women make me weep. Oh Lori, you probably didn’t notice but there’s a sign in the photo that has offensive language no lady should use.

  4. We are commanded to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15), Michelle, but we are never commanded in the Word of God to march against anything since this accomplishes nothing that matters for eternity. (I noticed you didn’t use one Bible verse in your comment.) God wants us, as women, to have meek and quiet spirits and live quiet and peaceable lives in our homes while raising godly offspring. The outside world will be much more attracted to Christianity by watching Christians live holy and godly lives rather than protesting things in our wicked culture. Yes, we can speak out against the evil but what this really entails is speaking the truth in love since it’s only God’s Word and His Spirit that changes people for good.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12) How do we wage this battle? By marching and standing for our rights? No, by putting on the full armor of the Lord. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Eph. 6:13-16)

  5. They use all types of foul language and show all types of immodesty and this is what happens when people walk away from the ways of the Lord, Regina. It’s so very sad and tragic.

  6. I’m so glad you addressed this as I was wondering about this question concerning marching for the unborn. I did that once. I was warned not to by my father who is a Christian but usually votes for politicians that believe in abortion (not that he does). I didn’t listen to him because I know his voting record doesn’t put as much weight on anti abortion as I do. I don’t know if we changed anything by that march or not. But this post got me thinking, especially concerning my place as a Christian woman.

I definitely want to spend the precious few moments I have here on this Earth affecting the world in ways that gain the biggest returns. When you consider scripture tells us that our biggest returns are found by loving our husbands, and children, being discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to our own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed then your right, it does exclude all the other ways of affecting change that our culture tells us women should be involved with. I’m so glad this has been made clearer to me by this post and your response to Michelle Cooper’s question.

Also Lori will you please pray for me as I have been struggling with an old bad habit of mine that can negatively impact all those I love.

  7. Lori,

You are so right! These women talk about love and rights, yet they do not care for the rights of the unborn, nor are their actions lovely.

Your biblical perspective is so refreshing! We need a revival of biblical femininity in our churches!

  8. To some degree i agree with Michelle, however teaching those principles begins in the home.

Its rather ironic, paremts spend so long teaching their children and talking about “well, youcant please everyone, so you may as well do whatever makes you happy”. While i agree you cant please everybody, you shouldnt seek your own desires. But this womens march, by its very nature goes against that teaching entirely, and is impossible, logically to achieve. They are marching to say ‘we need to please everybody or there wont be peace’. And they will never find it, particularly without the Prince of Peace. The bible even mentions that in some circumstances, God laughs at their calamity. There will be no peace on earth, at least not complee, everlasting peace until the Lord comes back and conquers evil once and for all.

  9. Amen! Biblical femininity starts with us, my father used to say ‘ if you want something done then do it yourself’. I dont entirely agree with the statement, however, if we want biblical femininity in our churches and a titus 2 mentorship, it must start with us.

  10. Women’s marches, kkk marches, black lives matter marches, blue lives matter marches etc, is all lame and foolish. These marches accomplish nothing. The true God of the bible will judge all wicked and unrighteousness sooner than later. The real judgement begins in the church.

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
    1 Peter 4:17‭-‬18 KJV

So we should be looking into the church organizations today because they will be the ones being judge first. Yes the people at these marches will be judged, but the real judgement begins with those of us who say we are believers. Let us search and serve God as the bible saith because many will be surprised on the day of reckoning…

  11. AMEN. There is nothing beautiful or lovely about these marches. They are just shrill, demanding, obscene women screaming and having tantrums. The essence of feminism is being demanding and ungrateful and forever unsatisfied.

  12. My husband and I have taught our children earlier on that “life isn’t fair” and that they better not be expecting it to be. But their reaction certainly determines a lot in how they react to situations that are deemed unfair.

    I love this post!
