Misogyny in the Church

Misogyny in the Church

Do you love being a woman and the role that the LORD has given you? Do you believe the Word of God as written? Then you are in the minority of women, as you know. The LORD has told us that the road is narrow and few want to walk on it.  Most choose to walk on the broad path that leads to destruction. I believe the Word just as God has written it. I accept absolutes easily. Most seem to try to explain them away; I simply take God at His Word. He’s our Creator and He knows what’s best for us.

Many women want to fight, twist, and water it down. This is a bad place to be. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book (Revelation 22:19).

An article titled The Hashtag #ThingsOnlyChristianWomenHear Is Blowing Up Twitter and Pointing Out Misogyny in the Church is an example of those women who are in this bad place unless they repent and believe God’s Word the way it was written.

Misogyny means “a hatred of women.” Women in America have more rights than ever before but feminists will NEVER be content because they are searching for worth on this earth instead of in Christ and they will NEVER be men!

What are these things we need to address that are supposedly misogynist in the Church and are so wrong according to feminists? Here are some of the tweets.

“You can’t serve communion, but you are expected to serve at the potluck later.” Women serve communion in our church but I wouldn’t care at all if they didn’t. Some churches have the elders and deacons, who are all men, serve but so what. Feminists make a big to do over the non-essentials and only seem concerned about their perceived rights. What a waste of one’s time! Jesus, the Creator of everything, would have gladly served at a potluck. After all, He got down on His knees and washed His disciples feet. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant (Matthew 23:11).

“When you heard many sermons on how women submit to husbands but zero on how husbands lay down their life for wife.” I have never heard a sermon from the pulpit of any church I have attended in my 58 years that teach women to submit to their husbands. In fact, there are few women preachers/teachers/writers/bloggers who even teach it. Instead of searching out Scripture for how they are to live their lives, they prefer to hear how their husbands should treat them instead. These women are either unbelievers or baby Christians because those who are mature in the faith examine themselves to see how they can become more like Christ. They understand that they will only have to answer for themselves one day instead of constantly pointing their finger at their husband. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).

“Dress modestly because men are too weak. Also men are in charge of you because they are spiritually superior.” Men are too weak? The Bible calls women the weaker vessel and  easily deceived. This doesn’t bother me at all. I try to measure everything according to the Word because of this tendency. Yes, men struggle with lust but women struggle with their desire to control. For some reason, these women fail to point out any of their struggles and weaknesses.

Are men spiritually superior? No, it’s simply the way God has designed it partially because women are the ones who are easily deceived because they are often led by their emotions and feelings instead of by wisdom, as these tweets prove. These women are having childish temper tantrums and screaming, “Life isn’t fair!” Their parents failed to teach them that no, life isn’t fair and all things aren’t equal but that’s okay. The sooner children are taught this, the easier life will be for them to not only live under their parent’s authority but God’s authority.

“A little girl raised in today’s culture is eventually going to start asking: Why does my teacher at school tell me I can be the next President of the United States, while my teacher in Sunday school says the only teaching I can do at church is teach children or a room full of women. Whether your church holds to this particular standard or not is beside the point. This is the perception of the culture toward the broader church.” As a Sunday School teacher, I would never tell a girl she could be the President of the United States. I would encourage her to want to get married, bear children, and be a keeper at home since these are all God’s perfect plan for women. I would explain all of the wonderful ways that God made males and females differently.

“Leaders, it is time that we lead and steward what God has given us better. Silencing and ignoring is not leadership. Loving, teaching and addressing concerns is leading like Jesus led.” This author believes that women should be leaders in the Church. She doesn’t see anything wrong with it because she doesn’t believe the Word of God. She’s making up her own bible and serving her own god.

Feminists are jealous of men. These comments prove it. I love being a woman and I love the role the LORD has given me. I pray you do too. Read your Bible, believe it, and do what God has told you to do.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:7, 8

  1. Thanks again, Lori, for teaching women good, sound doctrine from God’s Word. I appreciated this post.

  2. When I attended church several years ago,(I no longer attend, instead I stay home with my husband. When he decides to go to church, I will gladly follow) I noticed that there was more and more feminism there. The women always had reasons why THEY should teach a Sunday School class with men in it, and that submission only applies in certain areas ect… It is so very frustrating that people will no longer read the Bible and take it at its word. It reminds me of the people who always blame someone else for every problem they have.

  3. Sorry, I didn’t finish up.

I also wanted to say that I LOVE being a woman, it is an honor to be the one that submits to my husband, the one that takes care of him and fixes his meals, the one that does his laundry and cleans his house. Don’t get me wrong, there are days that things just seem to go wrong and I do get frustrated, but those are the days you just have to suck it up and remind yourself of who created you and what your role is.

  4. I have a question. Why do we continue to support these apostate churches?

Please do not use “forsake gathering together. ” (Hebrews 10:25)

That is true, BUT , we are breeding disobedience with attendance and support. Heartbreaking, yes, but why oh why do we keep supporting this?

    Blessings
    Mrs.O

  5. Thanks for the post. The word “misogyny” appears in the 1828 Webster Dictionary and is defined as hatred of the female sex. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word was first used in 1656.

  6. Lori,

My husband and I quit going to a church where women did do the communion and taught class with men present.
Now we travel 50 miles one way to attend a church body where men serve and preach. We truly love being with like minded people of God.

    Thanks for your teachings!

  7. Misogyny has become a manipulative word. It allows women to berate a man and accuse him of this if she doesn’t get her way. Even in churches, men are becoming afraid to stand up and be leaders. God’s Word should determine our thinking – not what the world wants us to think.

  8. The hard days and times are what make us lean on the LORD more and become stronger in our faith. We’ll always have them while we live on this earth that is not our home, HH, which I know you know. This is why I love the verse, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Whenever I renew my mind with God’s truth, my attitude changes!

  9. There are still good Bible believing churches out there, Mrs. O, that live according to the Word of God but we are told that we will always be a remnant.

  10. It’s too bad you have to travel so far, Kathy, but it’s great to be among those who believe the Word as written. It’s a small price to pay!

  11. Yes, Maria, feminists love to use it and believe they are hated because they don’t get their way. Poor parenting! We didn’t always give our children their way because we loved them. If we were this way with our children, we know that the LORD doesn’t give us our way because He loves us so much that He was willing to send His Son to be crucified for our sins so that we might live forever.

  12. There have always been hatred–of men, of women, etc. It is good to have words to describe these things, so we know how to speak of them when they occur.

  13. You are right, Phylla, but what these women are calling hatred of women is not hatred of women. They are misusing the word and essentially calling God a hater of women which He is not.

  14. My favourite (if you can call it that) is ‘you speak 5 languages and have a doctoral degree?, children’s ministry is your calling!’. I just thought, get over it. The person is supposedly smart enough to earn that label, but not smart enough to realise that women in leadership contradict God’s word. Such silly women.

  15. What a sad read that article was. Did you notice the sarcastic tweet “So you speak five languages and have a doctorate? Childrens’ ministry is for you!” So if you have a doctorate and language background you shouldn’t be bothered with such “menial” tasks as teaching children?? Really?? Molding the next generation isn’t important? Wow. This woman just undermined the very women she supposedly wants to liberate. A formal education means you are too good to work with children? How short-sighted and frankly insulting. PS – How many Americans speak five languages? A Google search indicates that only one in four Americans can speak a second language and less than 1% of the world’s population can speak five languages. The lady who tweeted that comment needn’t worry about marvelously overqualified women in children’s ministry.

  16. What’s worse is, two women I know liked the article. One of them is a Chaplin in an elementary school. The other, a pastors wife. #facepalm.

  17. Lori, in the post you have written “Jesus the Creator of everything”. Do you believe that Jesus and God are the same entity?

  18. Re. this topic – this is one of the best sentences I’ve read in a long time that neatly summarizes the heart of this matter: “These women are either unbelievers or baby Christians because those who are mature in the faith examine themselves to see how they can become more like Christ. They understand that they will only have to answer for themselves one day”
    Great job Lori!

  19. I don’t understand why it is a bad thing if a woman is smart enough to speak 5 languages. as if she is supposed to dumb herself down to make her more like others around her.
My daughter learned how to speak Spanish, Cape Verde Creole, and is now learning French and Portuguese in school. If she decides to go travel abroad she will have an advantage over other travelers by already knowing several languages. She could be an interpreter. She could fall in love with a man whos primary language is French! She could minister to kids who come from other countries and only speak their own language! She could do so many things with this!
I think the message of telling women that their ONLY calling is to be at home and in church and thats all they can do. Their job is to meet a man, marry, and bear as many kids as they can is unreasonable for women. If you can’t have kids, or don’t meet a man until you are in your 40s, what are you supposed to do? Volunteer in church and hope your parents let you live with them until you get married because you don’t have a way of working in a job to support yourself?

  20. The only mysoginists these days are women. In regards to this, women hate women, but only shame the ones who are trying to follow God’s word. They do not shame the ones who are over weight, loud and rude, over bearing and slobs. They shame the petite, quiet, gentle spirited ones who stay home and raise their kids to be respectful.

    KAK,

Genesis states, “Let us make them in our image.” Who is us?

I AM means God Is. The Judahites knew this and also knew the Old Testament and the seriousness of each word, and how it was used and its meaning. When they asked Jesus if he was the Son of God He stated, “I AM….”

To be the Son of God or the Son of Man means to the Judahites that He is infact The Messiah, the One of God, or Immanuel “God is with us”. Jesus was stating He is God. Why do you think they called it blaspheme and wanted to kill him for equating Himself with God? Are we not all children of God? Yes. But read Hebrews thuroughly and you will understand the Jesus was The Christ, the Son of the living God who submitted to God in human flesh. But make no mistake about it, we do not worship anyone but God alone and as christians we worship Jesus Christ or Lord and Savior. Do we have multiple gods that we worship or the one and only God? Who is this Jesus if we are to worship Him and not God only?

Am I not the son of my parents, the husband of my wife, the father of my children? We can easily make this fit and understand. Do not let others say it is one of the mysteries. It is not. The only mysteries were to the Hebrews of that time that were the chosen ones and how God through His Son would save the world through Him. Not just the Hebrews, but the heathen and the gentiles (Hebrews not the Judahites, Levis, and Benjamites) that wondered away from the Torah.
