Silly Women Laden With Sins

Silly Women Laden With Sins

Women do NOT like being told that they are more easily deceived. Are we? We are told in 1 Timothy 2 why women shouldn’t teach nor usurp authority over the man but to be in silence. Two reasons are given. One was that Adam was first formed, therefore, this is the way God showed His authority structure on this earth from the beginning. Priests, Levites, Scribes, Major and Minor Prophets, Kings of Israel and Judah, Patriarchs, Authors of Scripture, the Forerunner of Christ (John the Baptist), Christ Himself, Apostles, Elders, and Deacons were all men and are to be men according to the Bible. The second reason is that it wasn’t Adam who was deceived but “the woman being deceived was in the transgression” (1 Timothy 2:14). Does this mean that ALL women are more easily deceived?

Let’s look at 2 Timothy 3 for some clues. We are told that in the last days “perilous times shall come.” Later on, we are told of “silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:6, 7). From what I have seen, women seem to be more easily deceived with false doctrine. They also allow godless things into their homes via the television set or computer which causes them to lust after things they should not and tear down their homes with their own hands.

I find it very interesting that God chose to use the word “women” in this passage. It’s women who He calls silly and led away with different lusts. They are always learning but never come to the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, women who haven’t been steeped in the Word of God are more likely to be deceived. Just look at the new women who have been elected to Congress and the mess they are making! They believe babies should be murdered up until after they are born and support all types of things that God calls evil. “The vast majority of our suffering falls at the feet of wicked elitists and their obedient underlings, who arrogantly reject the Creator’s love and teaching, and are mostly responsible for the depth of evil in this world.” (source)

“When women are let loose to do as they please, away from the authority of men, they have not come up with a cornucopia of great inventions and discoveries. Instead, they have aborted tens of millions of infants, blames all their problems on men, voted leftists into office, become excessively promiscuous, gotten worthless college degrees and demanded equally worthless make-work jobs, believe that wealth falls like manna from heaven, come to believe marriage is temporary, destroyed children’s lives through easy divorce and single parenthood, and rationalized every bit of it” (Bob Wallace).

It’s also women who are being deceived by popular women preacher/teachers who are teaching things that aren’t biblical and many of them are teaching men which is forbidden in God’s Word. As I have written before, I don’t believe women belong behind pulpits teaching other women the Word of God. God ordained men (elders) to do this and to lead their flocks not women. If the reasons given for women not to teach men (men are the ones to be in authority and women are more easily deceived), then why should they be teaching women? God is clear in His Word exactly what He wants older women teaching young women (Titus 2:3-5) and most of the women preachers/teachers are not teaching biblical womanhood.

We must be women of the Word. We must learn from godly MEN who have studied the Word of God and teach it just as it is written who aren’t afraid to teach the truth boldly and without shame. We must not be enticed by television shows and allow its corruption to come into our homes. We must always be on guard against the enemy’s tactics and clothe ourselves with the full armor of God so we won’t be silly women who are easily deceived but ones who will grow in the wisdom and the knowledge of the Lord.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Isaiah 3:12

  1. The radical feminist hook up culture of broken homes, and devalued marriages didn’t help any! Nor does their message of “you have to be like a man to be worth anything”…

  2. Lori,

I appreciate your courage to address women’s issues biblically. My heart breaks to see so many women wanting to teach women the Word of God when they should be focused on training the next generation of children. Hang in there; telling the truth does not make one popular, even so in the church.

  3. I don’t know why the grass is always greener on the men’s side for us. We are truly devaluing women when we act like men. Also there is absolutely no need for women preachers. There are centuries of theological books and a world half full of men. But the one thing we need (older women teaching younger women how to love their husbands and children and be busy at home) is in short supply.

As for women being deceived, one need not look any further than the women’s march. Even if you are tempted to agree with their destructive views their uncouth behavior gave away their black hearts.

I’m very grateful for your dedication to the Lord to take His word seriously and bless us women with continual exhortation.

  4. I was taken aback when someone suggested that a women’s Bible study could be sinful. (I prefer mixed studies anyway, as we can all benefit from the experience of believers different than we.) I’m not convinced that this is correct (I still attend my church’s women’s Bible study), but I see the potential for all sorts of problems–women getting together and encouraging gossip, slander, and false teachings away from the oversight of men of the church.

I have expressed my desire that all of the books we use in Bible study be written by men. This is not any guarantee of theological orthodoxy, of course, but at least it avoids garbage by Beth Moore and her ilk.

Also, I will say that my Bible study group does NOT condone gossip, tearing down husbands, or taking over leadership roles in the church. It is nice to hear from the wisdom of older ladies on childrearing and other domestic issues, and these women present a beautiful testimony of Christ’s presence in their lives.

  5. I would love so much for the ladies in our Bible study to study Biblical womanhood which includes submission to our husbands, being keepers at home and NOT being blinded by the popular “Christian ” women personalities.

  6. The whole women’s movement baffles me because I love being a girl! I have no desire to look or act like a boy!

I remember attending a women’s study many years ago. I think the title was “Becoming a Woman of Excellence.” I really enjoyed that. I haven’t really seen anything similar since. I’ve mostly read & studied on my own.

  7. I think the only time I’ve ever done a Bible study on Biblical womanhood was when a bunch of us moms from our homeschool group got together to study The Power of Motherhood by Nancy Campbell. My friend was leading the study which started out with 25 women but several dropped out because they didn’t like what Nancy had to say. We ended up with only about 10 left. Same thing happened when another friend led a study on Created to Be His Helpmeet. Same homeschool group too but the women just didn’t like the Pearls or the book. I think this was when Debi wrote the first edition. I read the 10th edition last year and bought the journal that goes with it.

  8. My wife went to a friend’s church’ women’s group where apparently after her much griping and complaining, they told my wife to lie to me, steal the kids, and run off…to improve her marriage, of course. Anyhow, that act of deceit, kidnapping, and rebellion only made things worse, and a few years later after she filed for divorce, I called the Bozo who ran the church where that coven had met. I told him what had happened, and asked who was the man in charge of the women’s ministry. He replied that there had been no man in charge. That it was run by a couple of women because it was a women’s ministry. I told the fool that thinking women must be in charge of the women’s ministry was ‘token-identity staffing’, as foolish as thinking toddlers must be in charge of the nursery. He huffily claimed no responsibility, because both of the group leaders had since left the church, and the group had been disbanded, apparently after other homes were broken up, so it was not still going on. The fool had abdicated his responsibility then, and was not about to take any responsibility for it later either. Beware of any “church” where the men won’t lead the women, or hold them accountable to live rightly.

  9. “Does this mean that ALL women are more easily deceived?”

No, just the ‘silly’ ones. If you stay in the structure set up by God, then you’ve got a pretty sure safety net.

  10. Yes and they can lead woman astray as was mentioned. My first woman’s bible study group they praised the woman who were at work and let their husband’s do the work or childcare and put so much pressure on young mums like myself to get more involved with Church stuff rather than let me be a homemaker. Fortunately God had just strongly put on my heart that I needed to be a keeper at home, be modest and submit to my husband so I left the group pretty quickly. As a baby Christian I was actually surprised that the Church were pushing woman to live like the world. Sad.

  11. It takes a woman to know a woman.

I have no issue with women doing bible studies as we can discuss women’s stuff. A man would not be able to understand women’s issues as much as another woman.

But I would say with hindsight, it should be taught by an older or experienced woman who has walked with Christ for a long time and knows her way around the bible.

I have been to bible studies and they do emphasize submitting to your husband and acting like a lady. However they highly emphasize doing well in your career and seem to believe that ladies who choose not to place on the slap (make up), had issues.

I have known and seen women pile on makeup and dress smart, have numerous degrees and can speak various languages. But they are loud, shriek all over the place like a hyena, and have bad manners such as they would openly whisper about you within earshot.

If the bible classes focussed on removing our ‘black hearts’ instead of looking pretty all the time, and being welcoming to others who are newcomers, they can still be taught by a 30 something pastor’s wife and have credibility.

    And by the way,

  12. i was ostracized and pressured to attend the ladies bible studies and events at our last church. the preachers wife was a teacher and led the mean girls group and snubbed us stay at home moms and homeschool moms. one woman constantly hassled me about these groups to the point that we stopped attending that church. this is real at so many churches.

  13. “It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy.” – 1984, George Orwell.

Even pagan literary artists recognize the weak-point in society. Want to inject societal toxin into a stable culture? Brainwash the next generation of women.

Look at the succession of Women’s Suffrage (1900s), women in the workforce (aided by ‘necessity’ of 2 back-to-back world wars, 1910s again in 1940s), the sexual ‘liberation’ incl Roe v Wade (1960s-80s), L-B-G-Q-N-O-P-E-I-E-I-O movement (2000s). It’s always a major push separated by ~20 years, or 1 generation. Moving the goalposts, always moving the goalposts in what is ‘normalcy’ for a society.

God gave us our instructions on the checks and balances in society/family in the books of Ephesians, Colossians, Corinthians, Titus etc. The Deceiver is always prowling around, looking to destroy these checks and balances.

Older women who have remained faithful to their husbands, who have been diligent in raising their children are the protection intended against these attacks by Satan. They are the ones training upright Christian boys and girls while they are home, and by mentoring young women as they transition from child to adult.

  14. Brian & Lori, while many problems reside in women, it is men who have also been culpable in creating these wayward women, by their embrace of a neutered Christianity. Tony Evans says correctly that every man is his wife’s pastor, but the church has not equipped the average man for this pastoral role. Worse they have often encouraged men to abdicate this role. This has weakened Christian families, which has weakened Christian churches, and weakened Christian denominations. But God will not be mocked. He is stirring up revival in the hearts of his people. Thank you for your ministry Lori, my wife and I both enjoy your insights.
