We Are to Be Set Apart

We Are to Be Set Apart

This was written by a seventeen year old young woman who has a mother who is a drug addict and her father died a few years ago but she is strong in the Lord! I pray this will encourage all of you young women who have had troubled childhoods and to know that you are more than conquerors through Christ who loves you! You may not have all of her convictions but I deeply admire those who have strong convictions and live them out for all the world to see.

My heart hurts and I’m mourning for those who don’t see wrong where wrong is present.

I don’t only think, but KNOW God has placed a standard for Christians to live by.

Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to hear him.
Deuteronomy 8:6

When you know to do right, but override the conviction of the action, you’re sinning. It then goes into willfully sinning when you know it’s wrong but do it anyway.

So many have fallen in love with the sin, the things the world is providing them, that they’ve now forgotten God is still a JUST God and you WILL face the consequences. Especially those who know what’s right but have found pleasure in going out into the world again, to do whatever they want do.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1 John 2:15

Y’all, when did you lose respect for yourself and forget we’re to be set apart? The night club atmosphere is not for Christians. The inappropriate clothing (tight/”showy”) IS NOT FOR CHRISTIANS. We ARE TO BE SET APART! Is it that hard to understand? The dancing… Not for Christians. The cussing, not for Christians. Drinking, not for Christians. Drugs, obviously not for Christians. I can give you scripture all day, but when you’re doing wrong – you don’t wanna hear it.

WE SHOULD BE SET APART.

As I walk into a room, I want EVERY person to see God through me. I’m not perfect, Lord knows, but I can tell you, you won’t find me doing these things. Christ says to strive to be as Him, perfect. That’s what we need to do. Shine your light and don’t forget where He’s brought you from. Don’t go back out into sin; there’s nothing but anguish there. Jesus is coming soon. Be ready. I want you to go with me when He comes.

  1. Love this and I can’t wait for my 13 year old daughter to read this! Very ,very encouraging ❤️ God Bless You!

  2. Not doing these things are good but these things are surface areas. Once you really start understanding the scriptures and believe EVERYTHING it says you will really see how narrow it really is. You see it all comes down to matters of the heart. Our hearts are desperately wicked. We have to purify our heart condition first and once we see this we can clearly see the status of lost souls it will bring a grief to your heart. God is a loving God, but he also is a God of Judgement. We know that God’s judgement will gall on America because the wickedness that this nation has caused. We are to be set apart, that also means coming out of the ways of America as well. With all the rascism, hatred,,bloodshed, slavery, etc that is on this land…Judgement is coming soon so we must live set apart according to His standards and not that of our own…Shalom.

  3. You sure are right that the more one reads and studies the Scriptures, the more one will recognize how narrow the way is and how old the paths are upon which God commands us to walk. Obeying God’s will is a simple matter, but oftentimes hardly easy. Thank the Lord He gives His own the strength to do so. When we live for Him, others will notice that we are utterly different from the world and its ways. God bless.

  4. I love this line *The night club atmosphere is not for Christians* our daughter was invited to go to night clubs but wouldn’t go, she always said “Mama, as a child of God I don’t belong there” we are so proud of her stand for God and His Word!
We are meant to look different to the world because we are the Righteous of God in Christ Jesus, we are set aside for Him and His service!
    Jilly ???

  5. The Bible says we are to praise God with dancing and music. Even David danced mightily for God.

  6. Most people aren’t dancing in praise to the Lord when they dance these days, Donna, but this is a Christian’s liberty to decide whether or not their dancing is glorifying to the Lord or not. My oldest daughter danced for a Christian ballet company for nine years and it absolutely was glorifying to the Lord!

  7. I was very impressed with a seventeen year old surface areas. I do not know many teens that live by those convictions. We are to be set apart and also not to continue in sin. It is all in the heart. As she follows the Lord she should grow stronger and on the straight and narrow path.

  8. Yes! Submissive you are exactly right – it comes down to matters of the heart.
I know a few (not many, fortunately) Christians who put every effort into being “set apart” and making sure they do not do sinful things, and they make sure people know they don’t do these things. They’re proud of what “good Christians” they are. But it seems to me that their hearts aren’t truly in the right place.

I don’t live in America, but I do live in a ‘western’ country so we face many of the same issues as those in America.

God’s way is a narrow way, but it is a very joy-filled way.

  9. I’m going to guess that you haven’t listened to the lyrics of music you will hear at many night clubs. Admittedly it’s a number of years since I set foot in one, but back then, the music/lyrics and the style of dancing was not edifying or glorying to God at all.
Singing hymns, or music that praises/glories God is quite different to night club music.

Aside from the music and the style of dancing, there is also alcohol and drugs consumed freely (bouncers/security can’t be everywhere) drinks get spiked, sexual assault is rife.
I guess it depends partly on the style of nightclub you go to, but the ones I used to go to – which were fairly average where I lived – are cesspits of sin.

  10. Hi kak! Yes ma’am this walk is very narrow. A person can do all the outside things but yet there hearts are far from God. That’s why we (i) have to make sure that my heart matches the outside appearances. Because at the end of the day God will judge me according to the scriptures not by commentaries and people’s opinion..Shalom
