Christ is the Secret to a Happy Home

Christ is the Secret to a Happy Home

This quote is from Strangers and Pilgrims on Earth by Jes. She lives a few hours north of me and is a kind and godly woman.

Christ is the secret to a happy home! He is the source of peace and joy, and His ways bring beauty and order into a home. A husband and wife loving each other who welcome children into their lives and raise them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. They attend a solid biblical church faithfully. They’re careful what their children are exposed to while teaching them wisdom to easily discern between good and evil.

Lately, I have enjoyed reading blogs like this one. They are far more soothing to my soul than scrolling through social media where so many quarrels happen. These women encourage us in our marriage, raising children, and homemaking. If there are some blogs like this that you love, please let us know in the comment section. Those of us who love the Lord and want Him to permeate our homes are a remnant in a dying culture. We must be focused on the just, pure, and honest as God commands. We are to exhort and encourage each other so that none of us grow weary in the journey towards our heavenly home.

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

  1. Thank you for your truth, guidance and inspiration. Once I crawl into bed, I get to read my iPad and my first stop is The Transformed Wife. I can’t wait for your words of wisdom which truly soothes my soul.

Several years ago, I did a Bible study using Dr. James Dobson’s book called 30 Life Principles. One of the best gifts I received from that book is to learn to ask God to transform me. Over these past years since He has blessed me by changing my my daily habits to more Christ centered desires. Can’t watch offensive immoral television, I look forward to my time to read the Bible, talk with God, read The Transformed Wife Biblical Womanhood, and another daily devotional. All which give me peace, inner joy, and what seemed to vex me during the day just seems to dissolve.

My marriage went from constant bickering to us learning to see each other’s positive attributes more than the negative. I have learned that not everything that bothers me about something my husband might do needs to be confronted. We have Christian friends and read scripture together. We took a year long Christian Bible counseling class with a wonderful dedicated pastor. What a journey! God has blessed us with so much.

Again, Lori, thank you for helping to get me started with right thinking to be a more submissive and obedient wife in the name of Jesus!

You’re so welcome, Paula! You are obeying Phil 4:8. What we feast upon eventually defines who we are. Blessings!

  2. Lori – Thank you for this. I found Strangers and Pilgrims on Earth in the last year or two. This is another blog I found at the same time, The Blessed Hearth:

It’s hard to find a balance between being aware of world events (“watch & pray”) and not watching any news at all. I know some folks who ignore the news completely because they don’t want to know anything and others who read too much and neglect real life. These days I mostly read news as it relates to Israel since they are the center of Biblical prophecy. Other than that, it seems mostly useless.

    Thanks!
    Katie
