Casting Down Wicked and Vain Imaginations
IMAGINATION, A conception or imagining of some event; a scheme, plot, or project, especially of evil.
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5).
“An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief” (Proverbs 6:18).
“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened” (Romans 1:21).
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Many have vain and wicked imaginations. They ponder evil and the ways of sin. They love sin and wallowing in it. As God’s children, we cast down ALL vain and wicked imaginations and dwell on God’s Truth instead. We aren’t fearful but trust fully in God our Savior. We love goodness and purity. We walk on the narrow path that leads to life.
How can one masturbate without having wicked and vain imaginations? It may be possible but not probable.
False teachers have vain imaginations about God talking to them and giving them a new and special revelation. Avoid them! They are trying to deceive you with vain words (Ephesians 5:6). Everything we need for life and godliness are in His Word.
Fearing for the future and fretting what may be coming is delving into vain imaginations. Stop! Trust God with the future! He promises to never leave nor forsake us. He is a promise keeper. We have nothing to fear, so kick those fearful, vain imaginations out as soon as they come into your mind.
Don’t have vain imaginations of what may happen to your children in the future. Give all of your concerns and anxieties to the Lord and leave them there. His mercies are new every morning! Great is His faithfulness.
God wants His people to walk by faith and walk in love by being transformed with the renewing of our minds with His Word (Romans 12:1,2). As we live as new creatures in Christ, we are salt and light to a wicked generation. God has created everything and holds the whole world in His hands. Live lives that glorify Him in everything.
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love…For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.
Ephesians 3:1,2,8
