“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” (1 John 5:19)

We must remind ourselves that this is not our home. We are pilgrims and strangers passing through. We must keep our eyes on things above. Our hope is in Christ alone. It’s easy to get comfortable here and always expect peace and happiness. We live in the richest nation that has ever existed. All of our needs and more are met daily. This causes many to forget that this isn’t our home. How do we do this? We store our treasures in heaven, where they belong!

Let us keep busy at home as God commands us to do. He doesn’t want us to go about fretting about what is happening in the world. He wants us to rejoice and be thankful! We know how it all ends. (Read Revelation 21 and 22.) He wants us to love and serve our husbands and children. He wants us to love our neighbors, relatives, and friends. This is how we store our treasures in heaven. In order to love and serve others like this, you must believe in Jesus Christ and then love and obey Him. Once you believe, He fills you with His Spirit who works mightily within you. After this, believe what God says about you in His Word. Be in His Word daily. Let His Word dwell within you deeply. Sing praise songs to yourself and out loud often. You must keep your mind on the Lord, NOT on this world that will one day burn.

Pray diligently often. Pray for your family to grow in the wisdom and the knowledge of the Lord. Pray for the sick to be made whole and healthy. Pray for your church and missionaries. Pray for your leaders that they will have wisdom and be protected. Pray for your unsaved neighbors that they will come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Give thanks to the Lord for all He has done, for who He is, and for His protection.

Finally, make sure you are renewing your mind with Truth daily. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Kick out bad and negative thoughts and replace them with Truth. Don’t spend your days scrolling on your phone and watching the news. This is all from the world which is held captive by the enemy of your soul. Listen to godly men preach good sermons. Learn from those who are wise and discerning. Don’t believe everything you read. Put your faith and trust in God alone! He alone is worthy.
