When People Were Thinner
Look at this picture. It was taken in the 50s or 60s. I am not sure. But there are a few things to notice in it. People were far thinner back then, and women dressed much more modestly. Obesity rates among adults in the US in 1950 was 10 percent. In 2020, it was 42.4 percent of adults. It has increased 26 percent just since 2008. Learning to eat in moderation is greatly needed in this country. Up to 80 percent of people dying from Covid are obese. Most obese people have comorbidities.
What has changed since the 50s and 60s? Fast food is abundant now and so is processed food. Many women are no longer cooking for their families. Sadly, many families are broken these days. The mothers aren’t home during the days, or the parents are divorced. All of this has contributed to the obesity we are seeing in our country.
People eat far more sugar now than they did then. Seed oils are a huge part of it too. People used to eat butter and lard. Now, they eat corn oil, sunflower, safflower, canola, peanut, and grapeseed oil. None of these are healthy. It’s far better to eat extra virgin olive oil, ghee, tallow, lard, coconut oil, avocado oil, and butter. All restaurants except for the few health conscious ones and fast food joints use junky oils.
Learning to eat in moderation is crucial for not becoming obese. Many will try to put blame on their obesity on many things except for their lack of self-control. Few were obese many years ago in America. People must become responsible for how much they eat and what they eat, and stop blaming it on something outside of their control. Besides needing to eat healthy, we need to exercise. We weren’t created to sit around all day. These lock downs have been horrible on the health of Americans! Instead of teaching people to eat healthy, get sunshine and exercise, they tell people to mask up, social distance, slather themselves with toxic chemicals, and inject themselves with toxic ingredients with no long-term studies available.
Did you notice how all of the women in the picture above are either dressed in dresses or in bathing suits which are far more modest than the ones women wear today? I wouldn’t call the bathing suits exactly modest, but they are far more modest then than they are now. I would be thankful if women went back to wearing those rather than the thong bikinis in which they are practically naked. Even so, we must, as believers in Jesus Christ, hold our standards to God’s Word, not what past generations did or didn’t do. The dresses in the picture are definitely modest. The bathing suits not so much.
How does a woman who wants to lose weight lose the weight? Check out intermittent fasting. Get rid of all of the junk food in your home. Eat whole, healthy food. Learn to cook from scratch. Be busy at home. Take long walks every day if you can. Eat in moderation. Remind yourself that you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. You are dead and freed from sin! Read Romans 6 and 8 over and over again until you believe it. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, a fruit of the Spirit is self-control. Teach your children self-control. This is a gift that you give them.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

We truly live in dark days
I saw an excellent documentary on the things that made people fat. They are high-fructose corn syrup, low-fat/non-fat food items, and portion sizes.
