Sowing Seeds of Destruction Won’t Create Peaceful Societies
“You can’t grow a peaceful society by sowing seeds of destruction. Neither can you defeat the Hitlers of the world by becoming like them. That’s why Christianity will survive all the empires and dictators that line up against it. The followers of evil will ultimately reap the seed of hate and destruction they’ve sown. Our seed is love, truth, and goodness. These are things upon which the kingdom of God is built.”
This comment is in a series I am reading that was written by Jack Cavanaugh who writes historical fiction books. This series happens during WW2. What this pastor said is wisdom for our age too. Our culture is wicked right now. Many in power are wicked. They are letting criminals out into the streets, closing down prisons, and getting rid of police while cheering the slaughtering of millions of unborn babies’ lives. All of this causes more violence and chaos and less respect for life. They worship their father, Satan, who kills, steals, and destroys.
Whenever you become downcast and depressed about all of the wicked happening in our country, read all of Psalm 37. “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth” (Psalm 37:8,9).
We must remember that our battle isn’t against flesh and blood “but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of the world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). Pray daily for those in leadership positions. Pray for good to overcome evil. Pray that Christians will be strong in their faith and unafraid of those who are trying to silence them.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6: 7-9).
Dear women, you don’t need to battle the wickedness growing around us as the world battles. Yes, speak the truth in love and continue to live your lives in obedience to God even if you are ridiculed. People NEED to see believers in Jesus Christ living lives of trust in Almighty God and rejoicing in the time to come. We know who is in control. We know how it all ends. We know that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We walk by faith and not by sight.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread…And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Psalm 37:25,40

This post is so spot on! So often these days we get ridiculed for everything we do, say, or even think.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact as you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Thank you for the encouraging words!
Excellent message, Lori! Thank you for standing firm & continuing to speak truth. Our Pastor shared something very similar yesterday morning. Living in a SIN-sick fallen world means we will have corruption, violence, ruthless leaders, disease, etc….. None of this is a surprise to God. Scripture clearly warns us of trials & tribulations. Yet we have His word & His promises that allow us to remain focused on Him & eternal life. No man has a heaven to put us in. Our hope & faith should be only in our Lord & savior. That truly brings a peace that surpasses all understanding!
I love this lesson. Thank you, Lori. I will be making special note of that Psalm and referring to it often.
Trying to live a life of biblical womanhood in obedience to your husband and to the Lord is hard enough with the questions and challenges it brings, as well as feminism and everything evil happening in the world today. Lori’s posts are such a blessing to me as it gathers (usually) like minded people that make you feel part of a small group of “hold outs” that can share their stories and maintain some kind of thread to hold us together in these difficult times. God will take care of us!!!!! Thanks Lori!
I needed to hear this message too! I will refer to it whenever I feel beaten down or frustrated at the state of the world around me. I will also reference it when talking to others who are worried or upset
This is just what I needed to see today. I am printing it to keep it in my Bible too.
