The Rise of a Dark, Subtle Sensual Spirit
“Militant feminism has and is creeping into the churches. The apostate church as described by Paul in II Timothy 3:1-5 embrace her heresies. The rise of a dark, subtle sensual spirit of antichrist blended with Babylonian charm is sweeping over our land like a storm. This is why, in post-modern America, a well-known study by George Barna shows that since the late 1960’s, men have been less likely to attend church than women; 39% men versus 61% women on any given Sabbath day in any church in America. A significant reason is because of secular humanism (tied to feminism) creeping into Biblical interpretation, and thus misinterpretation of scripture (to fit secular society) falsely empowers women in the church to the point that they overstep traditional Biblical boundaries and intimidate men to the point where men stop attending due to the false doctrine that is turning churches lukewarm, apostate, and ultra-feminine. Male pastors are totally to blame for being seduced by a ‘Jezebel spirit.’“(Craig Meyers)
“Interesting fact, 1 Corinthians 14 speak of women being silent in the churches in the context of prophesying. Sure, there were women prophets in the New Testaments, but they were to remain quiet in the context of the gathering of believers to allow the men to teach, preach, and even prophesy. God never calls anyone to contradict his holy written word. If it is different than what is plainly seen in scripture, you can bet your money that it is not from God. Even if her ‘prophesies’ are true, she is in sin for disobeying God and people still must be warned against her.” (Steven)
These were a few comments on a post written against women preachers. Of course, women were up in arms but these two men spoke truth. God never ordained women to be leaders in the churches. There are zero qualifications in the Bible for women in leadership positions and there’s a good reason for this; they aren’t supposed to be in leadership positions. There are clear requirements for men in leadership positions, however.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. (1 Timothy 3:2-12)
What are the qualifications for women who teach the Word? The only one I can find is in Titus 2:3: “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.” It says nothing about them being leaders in the churches or having any type of authority over others. No, they are not even commanded to teach the Bible to the younger women. The are commanded to be “teachers of good things” which include: “teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” Yes, they can use the Bible to support all of these teachings (How can they teach them to be good without teaching them the Word?) but they are never called to be expository teachers/preachers of the Word as men are called to do.
If God wanted women to be leaders/preachers/teachers in the churches, surely He would have given qualifications that they must meet but the fact that He specifically calls women to be silent in the church, that it is a shame for them to speak in the church, and that they are not to teach nor be in authority over men gives us God’s clear instructions about this topic. You can either believe the Lord and take Him at His Word or you can twist it to mean what you want it to mean and begin down the dark path of ungodliness.
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1 Corinthians 14:34, 35

A cute little story for you, Lori:
Last Sunday, while in church, one of my daughters who is very outgoing and animated, heard something said in the sermon that she really identified with. Apparently, a man sitting nearby did too and he called out a “Woohoo!” in response. Immediately, my daughter, having liked the message too, followed the man’s cheer with an animated cheer of her own. Knowing my daughter wasn’t meaning any harm in her response but still needed to be reminded of the role of women in church, I smiled at her and whispered in her ear, “Remember, sweetie, that ladies need to be quiet in church.” Without being offended or dejected, she smiled back at me sweetly and whispered, “Oh yes! Sorry about that. :)”
Amazing that my animated, spirit-filled, opinionated daughter wasn’t the slightest bit offended by what the Word instructs her to do, when you have so many grown women throwing temper tantrums over this issue. It’s been my experience that most women don’t get offended over these things unless they have been indoctrinated to be such.
Yes, many of us have a deep problem with getting offended about so many things today and God’s Word and His instructions to us should never offend us. Those who don’t have soft and teachable hearts to the Lord, like your daughter, are the ones who get offended easily. You are blessed!
There is also the issue of women trying to usurp authority or overstep by writing nastigrams to the leadership making demands and ultimatums. All very ugly but since they aren’t “teaching” or “preaching” they feel they have a right to.
I agree and I believe if there is anything that needs to be said to the elders or deacons, it should come from men. I have known too many women who have no problems rebuking the pastors.
It’s funny that I’ve always been a pretty odd bird with this topic. I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of women pastors, priests, etc. It’s not that some haven’t said some good & truthful things, but something about it always sent warning signals, for lack of better words, through my brain. It has long perturbed many of my friends and I always go back to telling them that it must have something to do with the Bible never speaking of women in that role. So, they bring up the many great retreats we’ve been on with some wonderful speakers, but that is very different to me.
I think this sort of matches up with what I’ve regularly seen for the past 20+ yrs. The dumbing down of men in the media. I hadn’t even really noticed it until my friend pointed it out. We were talking about Home Improvement & she said that she wouldn’t let her then 11 yr. old son watch it. She said that she didn’t like the way Tim was made to be an idiot, that she didn’t like her son getting messages that men were incompetent boobs. After that, I watched closely and now I know exactly what she meant.
The problem I have seen with women retreats from those who attended and from those I attended when I was younger was that they never taught what women are commanded to teach women. What if all women retreats taught women to love and obey their husbands, love their children, be modest, discreet, good, sober, and keepers at home? Think what a HUGE impact that would have upon Christian culture! There would be a lot fewer divorces and lonely children. Now, we have all of these “godly” women running around who are living in rebellion to their husbands. It’s not the way it’s supposed to be.
Its interesting but my husband and i bought the first season of growing pains as it brought back memories of our childhood and obviously Kirk Cameron is in it. During the first episode they made it clear the father figure had a leftist agenda, and was made out to be am idiot, the kids were manipulative and the wife was a strong, wise, feminist female. So in the bin it went. And we have seen some kids cartoons we used to watch with the same idea or subtle exposure to the occult or false religions. Or in some cases, not so subtle. It didnt occour to us at the time how bad it was. So now either we scratch the dvd up so it cant be played and them use it as a coaster. Or we throw them out after cutting them in half. And we are certainly more careful with what we buy. They start them young and male sure its ingrained as much as they can, dont they?
Just thinking back, it has really been awhile since I’ve been on a retreat. I had to think hard to remember some of the small breakouts or sessions I attended! I recall topics from my single days about purity and finding a Godly man. <—-Let me just add that I hit the jackpot!! 🙂 I also remember some (not sure if I was single or married) about not letting a dysfunctional family past into my present, creating holiday family traditions that don't forget about God, & I do remember one about hospitality. But, I can guarantee that I never did hear anything about obeying a husband! We still call that the "elbow day" at church when it's spoken about. Lots of elbow poking between spouses.
Amen!!! Finally, a woman who is willing to speak and expose these so called “Godly” women’s retreats! Women shouldn’t really need these kind of “get aways”. If they would just come under their husbands (or pastors) covering and authority, they wouldn’t have to deal with all the issues that these retreats address. Speaking from my own experience, life is SOOO much better when you get out of the driver’s seat!
I remember going to women’s retreats when I was young and had young children. I would leave my exhausted husband with them for the weekend and then come home angry because the house was messy! I taught me NOTHING about being a godly, submissive wife and this is exactly what I so desperately needed.
It sure is, Laura, because it’s God’s perfect plan for us! When churches begin to have women’s retreats based upon Titus 2:4, 5, then I will be all for them.
When I was growing up, the shows had strong and good men on them like Little House on the Prairie which I loved. You’re so right about most of the shows since I was young; they make the men look way beneath the strong, feminists women.
Love little house on the prairie! Apparently Michael Landons son produces the ‘love comes softly’ series. And is a professing christian. Not sure if the latter is true but it is interesting. Its interesting to look back on how we grew up and thought nothing of it and now that we are grown see just how bad things were. I stopped going to womens retreats and meetings because of the way men are torn down and women are praised for their speaking abilities.
Years ago Disney Channel had an animated show called The Proud Family. At the time I didn’t see anything wrong with it. My girls watched the show too and really liked it. But recently the girls found old reruns and my husband noticed how the dad is made out to be a complete idiot. I never picked up on that because I was so excited to see an African-American family on Disney. It seems many cartoon depict fathers stupid and parents need to screen their children’s shows. There is much garbage out there.
Scripture is not in conflict: “your daughters shall prophecy” is not in conflict with women being quiet in church and not leading or teaching men. It leaves them two rolls for prophecy: Titus 2:3 and training up his children, within the lead of her husband. [I suggest prophecy is defined here as SPEAKING the word of God.
And it may well include LIVING the Word of God, to all, without a spoken word].
This Jezebel spirit is what the Devil uses to attack the Word of God. The Word was entrusted to Adam, and to men. Eve learned of the ‘Do not eat’ command from Adam, given solely to him by God. Eve wanted to discard that Word of God so she could take charge, take Illicit Authority. To discard the Word of God she had to first discard the authority of Adam, given him alone by God, by dealing directly with the Devil herself.
This MO has not changed. The Word of God is stilled blasphemed by women not being obedient to their husbands; this is the foundation of how God is attacked: The Jezebel Spirit.
P.S. Men have been leaving the church for 100+ years, not because they have not desired God, but because many know it is a bunch of merchandised lies, and an increasingly effeminate church [scary when considering 1 Cor 6:9 KJV] and want nothing to do with it.
God is ready to build his church in these men, outside the church we have known for 500 years.
