False Accusations Against Me
A person I once respected and shared some of her posts has turned against me. Several months ago, she told me how much she appreciated my teaching but something caused her to come after me. And true to her pattern when she decides to go after someone, she goes hard. I tried to dialogue with her but her laundry list kept growing. Yes, we disciplined our children, and yes, I love the Pearls.
From what I understand, her primary complaint against me is that I do not believe in “original sin.” Some women have asked me about it in the past but I have never taught the subject. I quit teaching doctrine a long time ago, and as you know, I do not believe that women should be teaching theology.
We (Ken and I) do believe in original sin. What we do not believe is that hell is lined with the souls of babies which Calvin and the hard-core Reformed teach and believe. It is most likely in this context that the subject even came up, but let me assure you, that we do believe all have inherited from Adam a corrupted flesh (sinful flesh). The scriptures are clear that man in the flesh cannot please God and that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
If you believe that God is sending babies to hell, you go right ahead but we do not. We will not go into the reasons why, but we still believe in original sin and that Adam corrupted all mankind by his sin, yet Christ restores the image of God in anyone who places their faith and trust in Him. We are made brand new creatures in Christ Jesus. (Written with the help of my husband, Ken)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
