Taking a Blogging Break

Taking a Blogging Break

During my radiation treatments which went relatively smoothly thankfully, I went to an optometrist to get a new prescription. I have been wearing glasses since I was 45 years old and felt it was time to see if I needed a new prescription. The optometrist referred me to an ophthalmologist, since he told me that I had narrow angles which makes it dangerous to dilate my eyes and could cause blindness.

We decided to try to get it done by the end of the year since we had met my large deduction with my insurance due to my radiation. So, the week after radiation was done, last Wednesday, I had cataract surgery on one eye. The second surgery is on the 29th. So the eye that had surgery on it needs an entirely new prescription than my other eye. It’s very hard to read now! It will take awhile before the doctor can prescribe a new prescription for my “new” eyes.

Plus, the next few weeks will be very busy since one of my daughters will be giving birth shortly to my twelfth grandbaby, therefore, I want to do all that I can to help her. I love being available for all of my children and grandchildren, and spending time with them. They surely do add great richness to my life.

So with Christmas, New Years, a new baby, and difficulty reading, I most likely won’t be blogging for several weeks unless something pops up that inspires me to write about. I will still be tweeting and posting things on my Facebook page and Instagram. I am heavily censored on all of my social media sites, but that is to be expected since this isn’t my home. Many hate truth, God’s truth, but I love it!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and remember to consistently teach your children why we celebrate it and all that Christ has done for us. He’s so merciful towards us and pours His grace down upon us. We are so blessed to be His children. What an amazing Father we serve!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

  1. Hello.
First of all glad to know that the surgery went well.
I wish you the best for the upcoming surgery as well.
I pray to God that everything goes well in your home regarding upcoming the events.?
When it comes to censorship even my YouTube account was terminated almost a month ago because I spoke controversial(according to current times) conservative truths.
You rightly said…many hate truth…even when they subconciously know that it is right.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!❤?

  2. I will be praying for your continued and complete recovery, Lori. And a new grandbaby! How exciting and fun! I wish a merry and meaningful Christmas to you and your family. I hope the break from blogging will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed. God bless!

  3. We will miss you but wish you well. I had cataract surgery in one eye and like you, am awaiting the other. My husband had both and regained 20/20 vision so it is so worth it. enjoy your new grand baby and have a Merry Christmas and Happy and blessed New Year!

  4. Keeping you in prayer, Lori. Praying you go from strength to strength.

I’m glad you won’t be disappearing completely. I will watch our for you on Facebook and Instagram.

May God bless you and your family, richly.

    In Christ’s love,
    Tina.

  5. I had cataract surgery in both eyes in August/Sept. That period between the two surgeries is hard, when your eyes are so out of whack, not to mention all of the drops that you have to put in all day. But once it was done and I got my new glasses, it was like a miracle. I didn’t realize how much that the yellow/brown haze that I had been looking through had affected my ability to see color. For a few weeks after the surgery the world was almost painfully bright. But I can drive at night again and I can see 20/20 with the new glasses. Truly a blessing and a miracle.

  6. Lori, let me repeat what Diana just said, “ Thank you for all that you do.” Your teaching to women on Biblical womanhood is not popular but extremely needful. I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. Enjoy the break from blogging. Congratulations on another grand baby! God is good!

  7. Lori, please take care of your eyes (as well as the rest of you ;). The eyeball-searing ‘puter/tablet/cellphone screen/s can wait.

  8. First of all, I’m glad that your surgery went well and I’ll be praying for the other one. Congratulations on your new grandbaby! May God bless him and all your family.
Hope you get well soon, so that you can come back and continue to speak God’s thruth!
    :o)

  9. Thank you, Mary Jane! Right now, I am switching between three pairs of glasses and always have to keep one eye closed while reading or writing. It will be great when I can see clearly again, that’s for sure!

  10. Thank you, Tina. Yes, I will still be active on my social media sites at times but probably won’t be responding to many comments and emails. I am way behind on this as it is, unfortunately.

  11. Glad to hear your surgery went well, and your newest grandchild is on the way.

Going to miss your daily weekly posts, but, certainly hope and pray you, Ken, and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

  12. Thanks for your final word to teach our children the real and true meaning of Christmas.
Today I got to thinking that maybe just maybe you will do a post yet before Christmas , perhaps with ladies from your chat room, on ideas on ways to profitably and pleasantly pass these Christmas covid holidays when gathering with family is discouraged …
But I understand! It’s break time!
    Have a blessed Christmas.
And best wishes to your daughter as she delivers a baby.

  13. Oh my. I can’t tell you how greatly I will miss your regular posts. Your blog is the first bookmark on my phone, I read your new posts daily and re-read old posts over and over. I have your book and any books you recommend. You are my inspiration as a wife and mother. Words cannot describe how much of an impact you have had on my life. Take care of yourself and family first, and I’ll continue to be on your blog daily for inspiration. God bless you, Lori!

  14. Daer Lori,

I have read & greatly appreciated this blog for a couple of years now. Though I’m not a wife or a woman but a 64 y.o. divorced man, you have given me a lot of powerful ideas which have significantly influenced my outlook on what I should look for in a wife, should I be so blessed as to have one again. I thank you and Ken also for your forthright expression and reliance on God’s Word. I will renew my prayers for your health and recovery from the eye surgery. Take all the time you need, don’t rush to resume blogging to and for us. Your health is paramount.

    With much respect,

  15. Thank you so much, Cristina! I will probably post a few of my old blog posts on Facebook until I am ready to write again. I have thousands to choose from, thankfully!

  16. Many believers in Jesus Christ are still celebrating and being with their families. Their goal is to destroy the family and everything good but we won’t let them destroy our family. Good families are the foundation of a good nation. This is what many in power don’t want, sadly. God puts the lonely in families. Lonely, fearful people are easy to destroy. Don’t ever give into the fear!

  17. Thank you Lori for all you do! Wishing you the best and sending many prayers.
On another note I love to see men following you! I have read so many of your articles to my 2 boys and husband. My boys, 19 & 22 know you well. You are appreciating and respected in this home.

  18. Enjoy your much deserved break! I must tell you how I found you. About 3 years ago on FB a friend (not close) made a comment on one of your posts and it showed up in my news feed. A comment that I didn’t agree with and you do not either. So, I followed to see what it was about. One of the best choices I have ever made, I discovered you. I saw myself, and realized how much I had changed in a negative way as a wife. My husband of 41 years is so happy about how I have changed for the better, which is still a work in progress, but I getting better each year. Thank you for helping me! Left FB so glad you are on MeWe! Sharlene
