Are Christian Couples Who Choose Not to Have Children Sinning?
Is it sinful for married couples to choose not to have children?
God commands we be fruitful and multiply. (Genesis 1:28; Genesis 9:1)
The purpose of marriage is to produce godly offspring. (Malachi 2:15)
Happy is the man who has a quiver full. (Psalm 127:5)
He makes the barren woman to keep house and be a joyful mother of children. (Psalm 113:9)
Women are saved (find true fulfillment) in childbearing. (1 Timothy 2:15) Got Questions responds to this verse in this way: “The most likely interpretation that takes into account the immediate context is that, rather than abandoning their intended roles by demanding teaching and authoritative positions in the church, women will find true fulfillment through childbearing. Paul is saying God calls women to be faithful, helpful wives, raising children to love and worship God and managing the household wisely (1 Timothy 5:14; Titus 2:3–5). While this view is not without its difficulties, it appears to harmonize best with the context and with the remainder of Scripture.”
Young women are to love their children, and commanded to marry, bear children, guide the home. (Titus 2:4; 1 Timothy 5:14)
NOT wanting children once married comes from the birth control mentality which has led to millions of abortions. Study birth control’s roots. It’s satanic. God wants His children, once married, to have children if able. This is His plan for us, women. Embrace it!
For those who believe that it’s not sinful for couples to choose to not have children, where is this stated in Scripture? If it’s not a sin, then it must be okay for all Christian couples to decide not to have children, right? Wrong. Children are blessings from God. Accept His blessings!
Yes, there are some exceptions such as health issues that would make it dangerous for some women to have babies, but let’s not use the exceptions to negate the will of God for most married women, as many want to do. God created women to have babies! For those who suffer from infertility or are single, here is a wonderful and encouraging post for you.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:3
