The Song My Husband Wrote Me For Our 45th Anniversary!

We had Christmas Day dinner at my oldest daughter’s home. After dinner, my husband told everyone that he wanted to play his favorite song. I knew it would be “Masterpiece” by the Gaithers. He loves that song!!! My grandson and granddaughter had climbed onto my lap. When he began the song, I told him that this wasn’t Masterpiece. Then, I head the words “Westmont College” and “Santa Barbara” then “Lori Anne.” What??? What was this? Well, my husband had written a song for me and Prayersong.com put it to music. It was beautiful! We both had tears throughout it looking at each other. This has to be up there as my favorite gift from him (besides my children, of course) ever! Here are the words and the link to listen to it is HERE.
God crossed our lives that day, meeting at Westmont College long ago; walking along the Santa Barbara beach, sharing our first kiss, with waves all around, Lori Anne.
We married and moved to San Diego, working through grad school inside our trailer. Alyssa came first and made our hearts complete; our family grew in love and laughter every year.
Saturdays brought walks together to Ki’s, sharing our joys and small victories everyday. Holding our hands in Church prayers every week. Spending each morning in devotions side by side, Lori Anne.
And our years rose with joy and with pain. Nineteen grandchildren now shine with love and care. Laughter fills our home while I play my pickleball. Faithful strength shines brightly through every trial.
Hard days tested us but never broke our bond. Challenges came with grace; held us close and strong. Love carried us when life felt too hard to bear. Blessings overflow through family’s warm embrace.
I love you and want to show my heart today. Happiness grows from being right here with you. God saved your life to make you my perfect wife, living as one now, with heart and spirit whole.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
