BSF is Not Biblical

BSF is Not Biblical

BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) is a large Bible Study organization which was founded by a woman and written by a woman named Audrey Wetherell. How is this biblical? What biblical qualifications did she have to do this? God had men write every book in the Bible. He has many biblical qualifications for the elders who are the pastors and teachers in the churches, and they are all to be men.

Does Audrey Wetherell fit this description of a pastor or teacher in a church?

“This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.” (1 Timothy 3:1-7).

No, she doesn’t fit this description, because she’s not a man. In order to teach in the churches, a man must fit all of these qualifications. Who is qualified to teach women, and what must their qualifications be?

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” (Titus 2:3-5)

How about women teaching in the churches? What does God have to say about this?

“Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.” (1 Timothy 2:11-14)

Women are strictly forbidden from teaching in the churches. If one of the reasons is that they are more easily deceived, then why should they be teaching women doctrine that God has not commanded they teach them? They shouldn’t be! In fact, since 2015, BSF has drifted into New Age garbage.

I attended BSF years ago. We listened to a woman preach and then divided up into groups to go over our homework. I attended many Women’s Bible studies and not one taught anything about biblical womanhood. It wasn’t until I was 45 years old that I learned about it from Debi Pearl. It was then that I could look back and see how wrong Women’s Bible studies were. Most of them study female preachers’ material and none of them teach specifically what God commands that they teach to women.

Imagine if the older women in the churches were teaching the younger women biblical womanhood in their homes: teaching them about loving and obeying their husbands, loving their children, being good, chaste, discreet, modest, silent in the churches, sober, and keepers at home with meek and quiet spirits. Think how much stronger churches would be and then with biblically qualified men who preached God’s Word boldly in the churches. This is how churches are to be function! God’s ways are perfect.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1 Corinthians 14:33-35
