Disregarding Truth Due to “Tone”

Women often have trouble with the “tone” in the way others write. I have been accused of this even though I never swear, use all caps, or tear people down with slander. I’m direct, don’t try to tickle ears, and get quickly to the point. This is the type of teaching I have always preferred. Jesus and His Apostles weren’t always concerned with their tone, that’s for sure! Be more concerned with Truth than with tone. I love what Christina wrote about this topic on her Instagram account (dearsister). Remember, love is not easily offended.
Does it matter how we speak? Does “tone” matter? Yes. But it isn’t the determiner (much less sole determiner) of the substance of a thing. One of women’s weaknesses tends to be the emphasis placed on “tone.”
Women will disregard or even condemn a message of goodness and truth, because they didn’t like the tone.
Women will embrace and flock to a message of poisonous lies because it was delivered in an appealing tone. Eve ate the fruit because it was appealing. It seemed good. I imagine Satan’s “tone” wasn’t off-putting but friendly.
This has devastating consequences, and it’s something to know about your nature if you intend to be a wise and godly woman.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
Romans 15:14
