God is NOT an Egalitarian God
Many women use this verse to try and convince me that God is an egalitarian God who believes that men and women are equal (the same is what feminists actually mean) since they absolutely hate the thought of patriarchy and men in authority:
“There is neither Jew not Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)
Here’s how Trey responded to a woman on my post “Be Careful What You Wish For”:
“Regarding your ‘incidental’ statement about Galatians 3:28…
“I am not exactly sure what you are trying to convey about men and women being ‘equal’ but it sounds like egalitarianism to me and that kind of equal is NOT what Paul is saying in that verse. The context of the Book and the verses surrounding it make it very clear what Paul is talking about.
“The central theme of Galatians is ‘How is a person saved and justified? By works of the (Mosaic) law, or by faith?’ Almost everything Paul writes in this book (to the Gentile churches in the region of Galatia) is to answer those questions.
Galatians 3:23-28 – “But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew not Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)
“What Paul is saying here is STRICTLY to do with Salvation and Justification and NOTHING to do with the roles (or authority) of men and women on this earth.
“So yes, men and women have equality in salvation and justification, but they do not have equality in their God assigned roles and duties on this earth. The authority structure that God created on this earth is that of Patriarchy, (man/father/husband) rule and the Bible makes it clear that men and women are not equal in authority, role, or function on this earth.”
Women, you must be students of the Word so when women use this verse to try to erase all of the other verses that the Apostle Paul used to clarity men and women’s roles, you will automatically know that they are giving you false doctrine to fit their narrative and not God’s. Our God ordained roles are good! They are perfect for us and once you begin living them out joyfully and contentedly, you will see for yourself. Yes, there will still come trials and tribulations since these are promised us but there will be much reward too.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Ephesians 5:23

So true! One of the most misused verses out there lol.
I’ve heard it used to justify women pastors . .. ?
That’s right, Isadora. Once they begin to water down God’s Word in which He makes clear that He created men to be the ones in authority, they begin watering everything down. You will find that most if not all female preachers are egalitarian. They must be in order to justify what they are doing.
Sister Lori – courageous post! Titus 2:15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
Many of us who read your blog live here in the US which boasts more freedom than most countries throughout the whole of history. We don’t deal with famine or foreign invaders like many countries. It is easy to have a good life here if you surround yourself with good people. Our lives are all so short, I don’t know why Western women spend so much time complaining and/or trying to be something God never intended for us to be. We have good lives! Life is short! Use what little time we have to glorify God.
What is sad is the fact that when we focus on something that is not what God explicitly told us to do, we fall short in what He did tell us to do. No matter how women try to twist the verse in Galatians, they cannot ignore the verses in Titus 2 and other places which explicitly state what women are to be doing. So they are exchanging a foggy definition for a clear directive. In so doing, they are neglecting the very things they were made in which they could succeed. And who will take the women’s places when they abdicate? Public schools of course and we see how well that worked out…
Thanks so much for this post and clarification Lori! When I talk to some women about there being no such thing as “mutual submission” I have had this passage quoted back to me on several occasions. Husbands are indeed in authority over their wives, and wives are to obey and submit to their husbands. Nothing mutual about that!! Personally, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
That verse is one of the many verses in the Bible that show that men and women are equal in value and worth. It does not suggest that our roles are the same.
There are many men out there who seem to think that because God set men in authority, that they are superior to women, and are inferior, but that’s not how it is at all. Mark 10:45 is just one example of how the servant is of equal value and importance and worth to the one being served.
I think that is where the confusion comes in for some people – they think that different roles equates to different value/worth.
Well put. KAK. It is sad, at least to me, that people think they have to be the same to be equal. God has made men and women to be unique, and we each thrive when we follow His design.
Jesus treated women as equals, and we try to emulate Jesus in every way. When she sat at Jesus’ feet Mary was being treated in exactly the same way as the men I.e. as a disciple. And when Martha questioned this, Jesus said that Mary had chosen the better part.
Jesus didn’t pick one woman to be His disciple who because Apostles. He loved men and women equally and died for men and women but even He showed the authority structure laid out by God Almighty to have men in authority positions.
You really should call in at the Atheist Experience talk show on you tube. This call-in-show needs real CHRISTIAN believers to call!
These guys could use a good caller showing them the Lord’s way!
I usually read your posts on Facebook first, I saw the picture of the way women dress in the 1950’s vs 2020’s… I wanted to comment but not get lost within the sea of ignorance and confusion that the world swims in. I praise God for you and everything He is doing through you. I ask that God continues to bless you in many ways. That picture made me laugh (in a good way), shake my head in agreement, feel stronger about being a woman, and gave me the desire to become more feminine as God designed me to be. I want to learn more about being a woman. Thank you for all you do.
You’re welcome, Stacy! I am so thankful that there will always be a remnant who love the Lord and His ways.
