“Little Men” Proves Men Were Created to Lead

Recently, I have watched the first four or five episodes of the movie “Little Men.” Jo from “Little Women” and her husband bought a home to care for boys who had no family. Her husband died so she was left to care for the boys. A young man, Nick, came through town and began helping Jo. She needed help with the farm, mending fences, building and fixing things, and chopping wood.
Jo definitely has a few feminist tendencies. This movie proves that women do indeed need men. One episode, a bad guy who had held up a couple in a stagecoach and stole all of the couple’s money, then came to Jo’s home and deceived her into thinking he’s a good guy. Nick told her he was bad, and she shouldn’t keep him in the home. Jo disagreed with him. It ends up Nick was right when the bad guy pulled out a gun on Jo and some other children. Nick came up behind the bad guy and beat him up. He protected Jo and the children.
Another time, Nick finds a black family living in a tent in the woods who had been slaves and brings them into the home. They have a young son. The family wanted to pay back Jo by working for her. The son was lazy and irresponsible. Nick gave it verbally to him and let him know that he needs to work hard or suffer consequences when he is irresponsible. Jo rebuked Nick for doing this to the boy.
One day, Nick gave the boy some work to do in the barn. The boy quickly got distracted and ran after a cat. He put the lantern on a barrel that tipped over and started the barn on fire. Nick had to come and put it out. Jo had told Nick that she didn’t want to be prejudice against the boy. This is why she favored him. Nick let her know she was being prejudice by not following through on discipline and consequences like she does with the other boys. She learned her lesson. Prejudice comes in different ways. Nick was right again.
Finally in the last episode I watched, Nick found a woman in the woods who was badly beaten up. He carried her to the home where Jo and a girl nursed her back to health. The police came and told her they were going to find the men who did this to her. It turns out it was her husband who eventually came to the house and demanded she go home with him. As he tried to barge in, Nick kicked him out and gave him some strong punches to the face. He fled. Nick protected them.
Without Nick in the home, the bad guy would have most likely killed a few of the children, the irresponsible boy would have never learned to be responsible, and the beat up woman would have been taken away by her abusive husband. Besides, Nick was the one fixing and maintaining everything. No matter how much women want to believe they can live without men, this movie proved that they cannot. (It’s on Amazon Prime. I am hoping the rest of the episodes are as good!)
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel.
