My Monday Ramblings
Scrolling through Twitter frequently isn’t healthy, in my opinion. It’s my favorite social media app since Truth isn’t censored at all on it, but the bickering, fear, and worse-case-scenarios become too much at times. On Friday, I decided I wasn’t going to scroll through it at all on Saturday and Sunday. I have never done anything like this, but it all just became too much. It doesn’t bring peace to my soul.
Reading everyone’s strong opinions about the newest cabinet choices by President Trump, the back-and-forth, and how good or bad each one just wasn’t good for me to dwell upon. I have no control who he chooses, so why should I give any time worrying about it? I pray daily that the Lord will give him wisdom along with all those counseling him. Then, I leave it in God’s hands. My goal is only to scroll through it once a day Monday through Friday, and that’s it. I no longer want the state of our nation and world to consume me. This isn’t our home, and we are to dwell on the true, honest, just, pure, and lovely (Philippians 4:8). I love these verses:
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Yes, I was absolutely thrilled and relieved when President Trump won the election but every day, we’re given some new thing to worry or be fearful about. I don’t want to give into this! I want to be thankful, enjoy the blessed life that God has given to me with contentment, and focus on things above. I can’t do this if I’m scrolling through Twitter frequently throughout the day. Since I didn’t scroll through it for two days straight, I can tell you that it didn’t effect my life negatively one bit! We don’t need to stay up-to-date on everything.
As I wrote in my last post, I watched Laine’s funeral on Friday afternoon. Whenever I’ve gone to a funeral, life on this earth is quickly put into perspective. What’s happening now in our nation won’t even be remembered in a few years! What a waste of time and energy to worry about any of it. We know where we’re spending eternity so living for the Lord and glorifying Him in everything is all that matters in the end. Laine lived her life for Jesus and is now spending eternity with Him.
As of last Friday, all of the couples who were living together in my neighborhood are now officially married! I have shared that I convinced all of them to do this. The last new wife came to me on Saturday and hugged me. I whispered to her, “It’s time for babies now!” She smiled and nodded. Some have argued that I shouldn’t be encouraging couples who are fornicating to get married. “They need to become believers first.” No, all of God’s commands are good for everyone, believer or unbeliever. So, I encourage even unbelievers to obey God, then I diligently pray for them to repent, believe in Jesus Christ, then love and obey Him. I do this with every unbeliever on my street almost nightly. I want them all to come to know Him.
My husband woke up coughing yesterday, so we decided to skip Sunday School and sit in the back of the church so no one would be around him. It was fun watching all of the young mothers walking with their babies to help them fall asleep and taking their little ones frequently to the bathroom. They were all dressed modestly, had long hair, and homemakers. What a blessing to see this! (The sermon was great, and we did listen diligently even with all of the cute distractions!)
Thanksgiving is Thursday. So far, almost all of my family will be coming here for the meal except for one of my sons and his family who live far away. I will be praying that my husband’s cough doesn’t get worse. He has had pneumonia twice in the past year, and he has that deep cough. My oldest daughter has been sick in bed the past few days. I hope everyone feels good enough for our wonderful Thanksgiving meal together. It’s an incredible blessing to celebrate this holiday with true believers in Jesus Christ. We can clearly give thanks to Whom all thanks belong!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! My grandchildren are excited to help me decorate for Christmas on Saturday. Every little thing that’s a bit different brings them so much joy. Grandchildren are absolutely blessings from the Lord!
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 136:1

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Lori ❤️
Miss Lori..I’ve prayed for all your family to be healthy and able to gather!
In Jesus Name.
Also, what a good thing to point out how even little small things make the little ones so excited. What a good reminder to us.🤎
Keep on rambling on Mondays!
Happy Thanksgiving to you from Guam!
*hugs*
While I’m thrilled the couples you mentioned are now married, however,I hesitate to tell it as a happy story. Only because the response I get from people I tell similar stories to have responded with “see! Living together isn’t bad! How else would they have gotten married before that?” *facepalm* And they’ll use it as a defense for it. While I’m happy a cohabitating couple marries, I don’t like how it normalizes cohabitation. I have mixed feelings about it.
Happy Thanksgiving! I struggle with watching too much YouTube at times. One thing that helps me is an app-blocking app. It has a schedule to it so I am not tempted to watch too many videos. I’m also just trying to read more printed books and stay busy in the home and with homemaking.
We need more rest from social media these days. I’ve been taking a break from social media from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. I started this year. It’s good to just relax my mind from all the information and educational videos that this world has to offer.
I would listen to hymns on piano or read more of God’s word. I highly encourage you all to the same. It’s a wonderful thing to do for our Lord Jesus. Thank you Ms. Lori for posting and allowing comments on your posts.
May the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with us all.
Good evening, I had a thought about your husband’s cough and his past pneumonia. Have you heard of earthing? I know you keep a pretty healthy lifestyle, and you may already be aware of it, but it’s an interest of mine, and I thought I’d share, just in case someone might be interested.
It sounds kind of woo woo at first, but it’s a well researched phenomenon that can be added to your wellness tool kit. In its most basic form, it’s just touching the earth (like all generations in the past have done) to discharge free radicals from your body, since the earth is a big electrical field. There are sheets and pads you can buy to get the same effect, but simply going outside barefoot for a certain time period per day can be helpful as well. Lots of information online if you search it up.
If I recall correctly, you said you live near a beach, which can be even more effective for earthing due to the salt water.
Jamie
Hi Jamie, At a cancer clinic south of us, they require their patients to walk on the beach and sit on the beach as much as possible for its healing purposes!
