This is one of the best sermons on biblical womanhood I have ever heard preached by Pastor Rick Appleton in December 2025. What I am going to share isn’t taught by many, sadly.

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” (Titus 2:3-5)

“It’s found in who she teaches, what she teaches them, and in what setting this teaching takes place. Women, as we see here, may certainly teach younger women. Also, we would expect that women, oftentimes being mothers, can teach younger children. Women may teach privately, but women are not public teachers. And as we will see in a moment, women may teach on the subjects of female piety and domestic duties. So you see who they teach (younger women), where they teach (privately), and what they teach (biblical womanhood) makes all the difference.

“We see now, in verse four, why these women are to be teachers of good things. There’s a purpose statement that, so that they may admonish the young women. This is the reason these women are to be reverent, not slanderous, not slaves to wine, and teachers of good things. Women, you have a significant place in the church. You’re not called to be shepherdesses or deaconesses or public teachers of doctrine. That’s not your calling. But you do have an important and indispensable calling. Therefore, we need you.”

I love this! This has been my conviction for a long time. God is clear on what He wants older women to teach. The pastor did quote 1 Corinthians 14:34,35 about women being silent in the churches and 1 Timothy 2:11,12 about women forbidden from teaching in the churches. This is why I would never feel comfortable getting on stage behind a pulpit and preaching biblical womanhood or any other doctrine to women. God doesn’t want women doing this. He calls us to be keepers at home.

I began my ministry mentoring women in their homes and mine. It was great and productive! As I have grown older, I don’t have the health to do this anymore, so I began a blog. In this way, I can still teach those women who want to learn from me and interact with them in the comment section. I have a lot of women who email me privately too. Concerning writing on social media, I pray God believes it’s okay. Yes, men do read what I write and comment, but they know my teaching is for women alone. I will always believe private mentorship in the home is the best way, but unfortunately, few older women are teaching biblical womanhood. I didn’t learn until I was 45 years old, even though I had attended church my entire life!

My husband does read what I write. He makes sure that what I am teaching is true and within the boundaries of biblical womanhood. He does mentor the men who write to me and sometimes responds in the comment section on social media. Most men have never been taught biblical womanhood. They’ve only heard feminism, even in the churches. Many of them want godly wives and to raise godly daughters. I am thankful for social media, which gives me the ability to teach many women while being a keeper at home, and I have never taught to make money. I definitely don’t teach in a church and never will! Standing in front of a large audience and preaching has never appealed to me. I love the quietness of my home. It’s where God wants me to be.
