Fire All Female Bible Teachers
Written By Brian Sauvé
Imagine the fruit that could have been born in Christian households, churches, and communities if instead of lionizing functional lady pastors producing lady Bible studies, we had obeyed Titus 2?
What would that have looked like?
Well, instead of empowering women theologians to serve as quasi-elders, making it seem as if women needed women teachers to learn their systematic and biblical theology rather than the office God appointed for that function (male elders and husbands), we would have ensured that godly older women diligently instructed younger women:
1) To love, respect, honor, and obey their husbands.
2) To keep their homes with diligence and zeal, not forsaking the household for the corporate office and career ladder.
3) To nurture, instruct, discipline, and love their children.
4) To pursue the virtues that are particularly befitting the female sex, like gentleness and quietness of spirit. And to pursue all of the Christian virtues: chastity, self-control, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, etc., as all godly Christians should.
5) To dress and behave modestly.
Instead, we got a thousand Beth Moore knockoffs and not just in the pop-evangelical world, either. No, we did the same thing in the “Reformed” world. We continue to do it to this day.
If we are going to turn the tide in the decline of our nation’s Christian character, we must return to the old paths. We must fire every lady Bible study teacher and instead raise up godly older women to model and instruct in sexed piety as Paul commands.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:3-5
