Women Despising Their Children

Matt Walsh shared that Facebook groups and TikTok videos are being made by women who hate motherhood and their children. What would I say to them? God commands older women to teach younger women to love their children, so I will. Loving your children is a choice you make. Women tend to be led by their emotions rather than by doing what is right (Truth). This is why they need to be taught.

Children are a gift from the Lord. He has blessed you with children. He never said life on this earth will be easy or pleasurable. If you seek those things, you will never find true fulfillment and satisfaction. Raising children is hard, but hard doesn’t mean bad. God created you to have children. You weren’t created for a job in the workforce, working for a boss and a paycheck.

Let me give you some encouragement on how to raise children. I raised four children whom I love more than I love my own life. They were a delight to raise! Yes, it took a lot of time and energy to discipline and train them to obey me, but it was worth it. By the time they were four or five years old, they knew who the boss was, and it wasn’t them. This is what God has to say about children running their homes: “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

Children need training and discipline early. I know this isn’t popular in this gentle-parenting environment, but the purpose of using the rod is to bring them pain, not to harm them. They must learn to equate sin with pain from a young age. We began early. Even if I was changing a diaper and they wouldn’t lie still, I would give one small smack on their thigh, NOT to harm them but to teach them to be still. It worked every time. I only had to do it once.

Some are vehemently opposed to this. I have seen a few who raised good children without the rod, but for those who did, it took a lot of time, energy, and patience. The rod teaches quickly. If you don’t have control over your children, you will not enjoy them. If they are obedient children and respect your authority, they are a blessing.

You must be home full time. This is crucial to raising good children. They need full-time mothers. You must forget about yourself and invest your life in your children. The rewards are great! I can’t even think of a better reward in my life than my four grown children and now, 19 grandchildren! Scripture says that there’s no greater joy than having children who walk in Truth. I praise God for this.

We never had terrible twos or rebellious teenagers. We never had to do timeouts or grounding when they were older. Any bad behavior, we dealt with when they were young. If they were overemotional, we would have them sit somewhere until they calmed down. We didn’t use the rod for every bad behavior. As they grew older, we talked to them about having right thinking often, since behavior comes from thoughts.

Loving your children is a choice you make every day. Yes, there will be difficult and exhausting times, especially when they are little. During those times, remind yourself to do the next thing, as Elisabeth Elliot taught. Also, remind yourself that the joy of the Lord is your strength, and you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. I encourage you to read Michael Pearl’s book To Train Up a Child. No, they didn’t support abuse. People took him to court, and they lost. There’s no proof his book ever caused harm. He even warns against it.  Check out all of the positive reviews on this book, because God’s ways work!

Feminism has convinced women that life is better out there, but it’s not. Life is better living according to God’s instruction book, the Bible! What can be more important than raising the next generation? NOTHING!!!

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

  1. I love my children more than my own life! Same!!! That love grows in the trenches! I’m SO happy I stayed home with my children! I don’t regret one minute of it! My sons are now 32, 30 and 30 (twins!) They all live in different states (military kids) but we chat almost every day! Thank you Lori!

  2. I was happy to devote time, energy and patience to my children so I wouldn’t need to use the rod.

  3. Michelle, God commands we use the rod, but modern culture believes its ways are better.

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell” (Pr. 23:13,14)

The beat used in these verses is like beating a drum, not to harm, but should hurt. We’re told how important using the rod is!

  4. Motherhood is the highest calling a woman can ever have. Children don’t need alot of toys and lessons and sports away from home-they need a Mother at home. Children don’t need to be catered to day and night. Read them stories, build a fort with them, and play ball in the backyard with Dad after dinner. But don’t play with them all day. In fact not much at all. They can cultivate an imagination and play together themselves. They can work with you. Or trail you while you work and you can talk to them about anything and everything. If possible challenge yourself to find joy and fulfillment at home with your children. Being at home doesn’t mean I need to have a spotless house at all times as I raise my row of children. The main thing is that if my health permits I should be doing something to build my home every day in a way my husband notices and takes note of. It might be the smell of homemade bread. It might be clean socks and shirts in his drawers and closet. It might be a shining kitchen floor. It should be accompanied by a smiling wife who loved her children that day by teaching and training them well. It’s possible once the stress of the workplace is not there and the pressure of giving children everything then Mothers will be more free to truly love their children. It’s also possible some husbands will do everything to encourage their wives to stay home with a wife who shows joy and fulfillment at home.
The smell of homemade bread is irrestible after all.
