Please Don’t Fall Into the Nebuchadnezzar Syndrome

neb

Those of you who have read my blog for a long probably remember the post written two years ago about the “Christian” woman and famous blogger, Glennon Doyle Melton, who did this after her pastor preached a great sermon:

After he finished, I stood up in my pew and clapped and cheered and WOOT WOOTED and pumped my fists and well, my church is not that kind of church. And so Craig {her husband} said, “SIT DOWN HONEY. HONEY, sit down.” So then I stayed standing even longer than I WOULD have because Craig is not the boss of me and nobody puts baby in a corner and submitting to your spouse is not really something we focus on much in the UCC.”

I even added the post in my book since it was relevant to the topic I had just written: submission to our husbands. Well, I have just found out that the woman who wrote this has divorced her husband and is in a relationship with a woman. Glennon wrote, “Oh my God, she is so good to me. She loves me for all the things I’ve always wanted to be loved for. She’s just my favorite. My person.” Is this what life is about: the measure by how someone treats us and loves us or is it to love others and be a living sacrifice for our Lord and Savior? “Glennon Doyle Melton has reiterated for years her position affirming that same-sex marriage is not sinful and celebrating love in various forms.” She clearly does not care the least about how God created marriage and what He calls love. “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

“Both Melton and Gilbert, who had not openly been in lesbian relationships before, first shared their news on Facebook, discussed the importance of living their truth and referred to their new partners as ‘my person.’ The similarities reflect what fans immediately notice: Both women value transparency and share an open-life-memoir writing style. Both have undergone spiritual journeys, separations and sexual awakenings.” I pray that all of you can clearly see the lies these women believe. They are both “living their truth.” I have no interest in living my own truth for it is a dangerous path to be on. God’s truth is the only truth I want to live out because it leads to eternal life. Be careful whose writings you read if you are a true follower of Jesus Christ.

I was deeply saddened about this but I clearly understand that this is what happens when people, especially those who claim to be Christians, are in rebellion to God’s clearly spelled out ways. God tells us that those who know His truth, yet reject it will be given over to reprobate minds as stated in Romans 1:28.  Rebellion to Him takes a person step by step, day by day away from God’s Word and towards selfish pride; wanting to be their own god, writing their own bible, and being in control of their own destiny. This is why we must not allow the enemy of our soul to have a foothold into our lives.

Look at Nebuchadnezzar who was in rebellion to the Lord. God gave him over to a reprobate mind and caused him to eat grass by acting like an animal for five years. Later, after being humbled by the Lord, he lifted his eyes back to heaven. God restored his mind and his kingdom back to Nebuchadnezzar. All we can hope with Glennon is that she will be humbled by the Lord, lift her eyes back up to Almighty God, then hopefully be restored back  to her husband and family and most importantly, to the Lord.

It is a scary thing to walk in rebellion to the Lord. What He commands for us to do and how He commands for us to live, we ought to obey. Yes, He is all about love and grace but His grace doesn’t allow us to walk in sin (Romans 6:1, 2). His grace gives us the power to walk in the Spirit and live in obedience to Him, since it was His grace that freed us from our sin and the wrath to come.

The days are evil, women, and you must know how to keep Satan from getting a foothold in your life. Put on the armor of the Lord daily found in Ephesians 6:10-18. Let His Word dwell in you richly and obey it. Be thankful and sing praises to Him. Listen and learn from godly teachers and preachers of the Word (men) and ignore those who are teaching and doing things that are opposed to what the Bible teaches. Hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, and soul and love others as you love yourself.

All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation.
Daniel 4:28-34

  1. I read this story last night and was sickened by her choices. She is deceived. I pray for women to obey God. His ways bring peace.

  2. This is just so unbeleivably sad! It’s hard to imagine someone professing to be a Christian living like this. Just so sad. It must break the Lord’s heart!

That kind of “love” is not love. It’s 100% selfishness. Wanting her own way. Not caring about the Lord’s blueprint for her life. True love would have compelled her to stay with her husband in the first place, love him with all her might, and put him and his needs ahead of herself. THAT is love.

  3. Many women are being led astray by other women today who are teaching a false gospel and this is why we must be steeped in the Word of God to easily see the error of their ways. You are so right, Kath. Only His ways are ways of peace.

  4. It sure is, but selfishness is what most are looking for as long as they are “happy”. They will never find lasting happiness and joy apart from living their lives according to God’s perfect ways.

  5. ” living my truth”is new age garbage. They twist everything around until it suits them. So many young people get sucked into this . If it feels good do it. Our sister church had a female pastor. Her husband was very active in the church. She left him and the church and her children for a female parishioner. She used the same words in a letter to the congregation. She felt called to live her truth!

  6. That is so sad, Karen. It’s the same as “I have to learn to love myself” and “I need to be happy.” None of these are biblical. Everything we believe must be measured by the Word of God.

  7. Yes, Karen! I could not have said that better myself. It is garbage. I absolutely love women’s ministry and learning from older and wiser women but here recently the “Christian celebrities” seem to be making up stuff to fit their own agenda. It’s sad and it’s scary for those that don’t have a solid biblical foundation. Everything is ok these days because they say #lovewins. It’s disgusting!

  8. You are right. They are leading many astray on their feelings and emotions along with things that aren’t biblical, Summer. Oh Lord, please expose their false doctrine for what it is.

“As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

  9. I just wanted to say thanks so much for addressing this. I’ve especially appreciated the articles on Elizabeth Gilbert, Jen Hatmaker, and Glennon Doyle Melton. I wanted to write more, but must tend to my son. 🙂

  10. You’re welcome. I just wrote this in the chat room:

These verses sure sum up what we have been talking about:

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thes. 2:11, 12) Let none of us fall into this type of error. Know the Word so you will not believe a lie and take pleasure in unrighteousness.
