Wanting a Sunny Home
When looking for a new home, the first thing I looked for is a sunny home. I wanted a home with a western or southern exposure. I like a lot of sunlight in my home! It makes the home cheery. Homes that face the north have hardly any sun in them. I wouldn’t want a dark home. (I love a sunny church too, which we now attend! Truth is also preached boldly.)
Florence Nightingale was a nurse from long ago. She found that those patients that were on the south side of the hospital were recovering far more quickly than those on the north. She figured out that it was because those on the south were receiving a lot of sunlight into their rooms. Those on the north weren’t receiving any.
Vitamin D is the king of keeping the immune system strong according to one doctor I follow on Instagram. We receive vitamin D from the sun. He recommends being in the sun for 20 minutes a day with as much body exposed as possible, at least your arms and legs. Since most people don’t have the time to do this or the sunshine available, it’s good to find a good vitamin D supplement. (Here’s the one I take. I take four to five drops a day.) Have your blood taken so you can make sure how much you are supposed to take. Too much is not good either. (Oh, and cut sugar from your diet. This is one of the best things you can do for your health. It rots your teeth and your health.)
I rarely used sunscreen on my children, and I never use it. The only time my children used it was when they were in the ocean for long periods of time, and I only used non-toxic sunscreens on them. (My sons loved to surf.) Everything you slather on your skin is absorbed into your body. I wear hats and longer sleeves if I am going to be outside for awhile in the heat of the day, but I try to get as much sunshine as possible.
I am thankful that the Lord made sunshine. I love going out in my front yard and sitting in the early morning sun. I have heard this is good for sleep too! Everything needs sunshine to grow. Jesus refers to Himself as the light of the world. Darkness is always associated with sin and Satan. Get out in the sun! Let your children play outside as often as possible. It’s good for them emotionally and physically.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
