Teaching Daughters to Be Feminists or Godly Women
An Instagram page called “Raising Teens Today” shared a quote by Komal Shahid: “Make your daughter so capable that you don’t have to worry about who will marry her. Instead of saving money for her wedding day, spend it well on her education. Instead of preparing her for marriage, prepare her for herself. Teach her self-love and confidence.” It had almost 13,000 likes.
“Make your daughter so capable that you don’t have to worry about who will marry her.” God tells us to raise our children in the nurture and the admonition of Him. He wants us to raise our daughters to love the Lord and His ways. Teach them the love of God, so they will in turn love others. Teach them to serve others, living sacrificial lives for the Lord. Let them know that God wants them to only marry a believer in Him. As you model being a godly wife and mother, you are giving them a huge advantage for when they do marry. Make sure you let them know the beauty of marriage and raising children. Culture will do the opposite, as this women clearly proves.
“Instead of saving money for her wedding day, spend it well on her education.” God tells us that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to Him. By education, they mean college which really means evil indoctrination which will be far from God’s will for them. Make sure your daughter is a good reader and reading good literature, plus is good at math. Teach her all of the ways of homemaking. In this way, she will be able to study the subjects she’s interested in, be wise, and know how to run a household efficiently. In God’s eyes, weddings are more important than higher education! He is the One who ordained marriage and called it good.
“Instead of preparing her for marriage, prepare her for herself. Teach her self-love and confidence.” Do you know what God has to say about this? “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves…” (2 Timothy 3:1,2) In a long list of the evil ways that people will become in the last days, did you see the first one? They will become “lovers of their own selves.” They will only care about themselves. Instead of living for Christ, they will live only for themselves and their own pleasures. This is how these women want you raising your daughters!
Teach your daughters to love God and to love others. They will never never be happy pursuing self-love. We all already love ourselves too much. This is why we struggle with selfishness and wanting our own way. No one needs to be taught to love themselves. We need to be lovers of God and lovers of others. Teach your daughters to live in obedience to God. His ways are good. His ways are the only way. He is our Creator and knows what is best for us!
These women want you to teach your teenage daughters to live lives of destruction on the broad path. They are deceived. They have been deceived by the father of lies, Satan. They are his agents. Don’t let your daughters listen to these lies. Teach them to listen to God our Father who loves us and gave His Son so that we could live eternally with Him and all that love Him. There is no joy to be found in living for oneself. It’s in giving our lives away that we find true joy and peace. It’s walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Make sure your daughters are grounded in God’s Word and that His Word dwells in them richly.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

They would be better off bringing up their sons that way, because a man has to be successful in order to marry. Only as a last resort will a woman date, let alone marry, a man who earns less than her. This applies equally to highly educated women who expect to earn a high income. Many of them are unable to find husbands. Read the article, “All the Single Ladies” at https://quillette.com/2020/01/16/all-the-single-ladies/
Can’t quite understand the hype about International Women’s Day “celebrating women’s achievements” Celebrating what, exactly? Certainly not Christian. Your views, Lori?
The quote sounds good, until you really think about it. I love how you broke it down!
I am forever grateful for the way my mom raised me! She raised me up to know that I cannot properly love others unless I love God first and am obedient to his perfect will for my life! I am excited to be getting married in December and am thankful to have wise women in my life to guide me in becoming a good wife to my future husband. I am also thankful that you continually speak the truth about who God is and what his word says!
Thanks so much, Lori 🙂
