Written By Timothy Allen What most miss – particularly Christians, is that God created the Earth and created a Garden and placed Adam in it to tend to it. Adam had EVERYTHING HE NEEDED to do those tasks all by himself. The Bible says that God brought the animals to Adam to be named. He did this – it no doubt took quite some time. Adam was alone on the Earth for quite some time – and he was equipped…
A woman asked me recently about writing a book for singles. “What about a book how to date for singles? The dos and don’ts in terms of dating for marriage for women, for what to look for in a man, topics to talk about to determine if we have compatible values, prayer examples for discernment, guidance, heartbreak, etc. There’s a lot on how to be a good Christian wife, but not a lot of information for single Christian women wanting…
Recently, I was sent this email from a Pastor: Lori, I very much appreciate all that you do to help women understand proper biblical gender roles. Teaching biblical gender roles is also a big part of my preaching ministry. In my preaching and teaching on this subject, I find it is the women who have the hardest time accepting what the Bible says. I had an idea that may help women in this area. I do not know if you…
“When the family shall no longer have a head, and the great foundation for the subjection of children in the mother’s example is gone; when the mother shall have found another sphere than her home for her energies; when she shall have exchanged the sweet charities of domestic love and sympathy for the fierce passions of the hustings [political campaigning]; when families shall be disrupted at the caprice [impulse] of either party, and the children scattered as foundlings[abandoned infant] from…
ADVICE ON MARRIAGE TO YOUNG LADIES Do not marry at all. But if you must avoid the Beauty Men, Flirts, and the Bounders, Tailor’s Dummies, and the Football Enthusiasts. Look for a Strong, Tame Man, a Fire-lighter, Coal-getting, Window Cleaner, and Yard Swiller. Don’t except too much, most men are lazy, selfish, thoughtless, lying, drunken, clumsy, heavy-footer, rough, unmanly brutes, and need taming. All Bachelors are, and many are worse still. If you want him to be happy, Feed the…
Shared By Lindsay Harold on her Facebook page Here’s a rather humorous and helpful list of tips for wives from the 1970’s, published in the Dear Abby column. This was mainstream advice back in the day but utterly taboo today. I only came across them because I saw someone, with a rather large internet following and a ministry specifically geared toward Christian married women, saying some of these made her nauseous. That makes no sense as these are very sensible…
The other night, I listened to the greatest sermon on biblical womanhood that I have ever listened to by Pastor Voddie Baucham. He gave it nine years ago, and it is so powerful! He first exhorted young men to only marry a woman who is submissive. “She must be submissive. Period.” He taught that submission is about order, not value. Men and women have different functions and roles. However, submission is voluntary. A husband can’t arm wrestle his wife into…
Every institution on this planet has a leader, a boss. Marriage is no different. Two heads create a monster. A husband is head of his wife, and the wife is commanded to live in submission to her husband. It’s God’s perfectly ordained order for marriage, but many rebel against this. They use Ephesians 5:21 to say a husband is commanded to submit to his wife. This isn’t biblical. I will take you through the Bible in order to prove to…
In 2014, Sunshine Mary, who used to have a blog, wrote about the way her husband dealt with her rebellion. I wrote a post called Should Husbands Ever Discipline Their Wives and asked the women on Facebook what they thought about Sunshine Mary’s post. She wrote the following after reading the women’s response. It’s quite interesting to say the least! Last fall, in Nip disrespect in the bud before it blooms into a flower of rebellion, I told the story…
Written By Vivian Maddox in response to someone who fully supports egalitarianism in marriage by quoting Ephesians 5:21: “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” The way that people mishandle the text in the fifth chapter of Ephesians is unfortunate. They take verse 21 out of context and use it to nullify verse 22: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” Verse 21 is addressed to the same “one another” as is verse…
